Considering buying the iHome iW1 Airplay wireless speaker?  Not sure if it fits you?  Yes, me too.  That is why I searched the internet and finally got the user manual of iW1 speaker for reference.  You can find the download link in this post.

iHome iW1 Speaker User Manual

Why do you want to read the user manual before buying?  Well, I highly recommend you do this because you can have a closer look at this airplay speaker before paying.  You can get to know what features this iW1 speaker provides.

iHome iW1 Controls

Another reason is about the ease of use.  Different brands of airplay speakers have different control menus and buttons.  The best way to try them out is to touch and use the real thing, but if you can’t get a first person trial, you can read the user manual.

iHome iW1 Technical Specs

For the same reason, I always want to check the technical specs of a gadget via its user manual.  However, the user manual of the iW1 speaker does not seem to provide the specs.

Setup iHome iW1 for Airplay

A great feature of this iHome iW1 speaker’s user manual is, though, a details guide to setting up airplay to connect your iPhone, iPod or iPad to your iHome airplay speaker.  It tells you how to connect via iHome Connect iOS app and via WiFi to your Mac or PC.  So even if you do not have an iOS device, you can play music on your computer’s iTunes and stream to this iW1 speaker.  This is probably how I would use it when I buy iHome iW1 Airplay speaker.

Firmware Update for iHome AirPlay iW1 Speaker

This user manual also details how users can update the firmware of the speaker.  You need to download the firmware from iHome’s homepage, copy it to a USB thumb drive and plug it into the iW1 speaker’s USB port.  Press reset button and wait.

Summary

After reading this user manual, I think iHome iW1 Airplay speaker is a nice product.  The user control is intuitive, the design is slim and stylish, features are great and control is easy.  It also comes with a firmware update possibility so this product is expandable.  I think this iW1 speaker is the best deal for an airplay speaker if you are looking for one which fits in your living room, office desk or bedroom perfectly.

Given its $299 only price tag, the portable design and strong functionality, I think iHome iW1 Airplay speaker is the best buy wireless speaker of the year!  You should definitely buy one if you like playing music and wants a decent wireless speaker.
