Compostela Images: a website designed to give American People the desire to walk the Camino

spacer

Welcome!

This website features a niche stock photography about the Way of Saint James in Europe, a.k.a. the First European Cultural Itinerary (1987). Also called The Camino, it is a 1200 years old Christian pilgrimage, which has been re-discovered for 20 years by our contemporaries. Pilgrims go by foot, no matter what their religion is, or even if they don't follow a religion at all, and they walk 1200 miles on average from France  to Santiago de Compostela in Western Spain, a city nestled by the ocean.
The Camino is a very rich photographic theme. It includes Romanesque and Gothic architecture, medieval fine arts, landscapes, cities, villages, people and more. This portfolio is a first selection out of a 50,000 images stock photo library.

Call for Pilgrims Testimonials!

Hello to the World's Pilgrims of Saint James Community. I am a French pilgrim of Saint James living in the US.
As a professional photographer, I have been specialized in the Way of St James for 20 years.
I used to be President of the Landese Society of Saint James in South Western France.
Now, I am working on a project of an art book dedicated to pilgrims. Our statistics in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port show that there are a lot less American pilgrims than English or even Canadian pilgrims. So the idea is to give American people the desire to walk the Camino. In order to do so, I am seeking testimonials of English speaking pilgrims who would be willing to write about their experience on the Camino: why they did it, what it brought to them on a human and philosophical level, the strongest souvenir they keep, and whether it changed something in their life once they returned home...All and everything they would like to say about this topic. Any person interested to testify about their own pilgrimage experience can send me a personal text to the email below:
info@compostela-images.com
I will respond personally to everybody.
Thank you in advance,
Ultreïa

Jean-Pierre Rousset
