Gilbert Renames Dime Building to "Chrysler House"

I wonder if they paid naming rights? Gotta love the 6th pic in the News article. A photographer captures a Jeep passing by the building. I'm happy for the development, and I understand the symbolism and all, but I'm just trying to picture this much press for a similar deal in a major city. I look forward to the day when this gets one line in the "news briefs" section.

How sad. The crooks in Detroit don't even just hold you up anymore. They shoot first, ask for your money after.

50K reward might get someone to roll over, but in the end Detroit loses another business owner and his business to crime while notching another mark in the 187 column.

Long stretch of I-96 to close for overhaul in 2014

There has to be some other road in the metro area that needs attention more than I-96 between Telegraph and Newburgh. Maybe by 2014 it will be worse, but right now the worst that I can say about that stretch of road is that that the asphalt patch between lanes make switching lanes noticeable but otherwise it is smooth sailing.

M-1 Opening It's Pockets To Get Some Transit

Clearly, these business leaders are putting their money where their mouth is on this project. I think that if they are willing to put up the operating funds, and most of the construction funds, they must feel that this is such an important investment in Detroit's future as to require such a risk. Building a short railway will connect Downtown w/ Midtown and New Center, effectively making those places walking distance and loosening the grip of the parking operators on space. When you can park off Temple St. and ride the train downtown in minutes, the effective number of parking spots for "downtown" has gone through the roof.

Another GREAT Midtown Rehab!

I'm so excited!! My apartment building, The Coronado Apartments on Second av. and Selden st. will start full renovation within 30 days, will be completed within for 90-120 days. New windows, appliances, energy star furnaces and hot water tanks, air conditioning, removal of many layers of paint, restoring original tile and wood floor in lobby stairway, lighting. Not sure what is being done on the exterior...stone wash, landscaping, lit-building..etc? GREAT NEWS!
