Version 3.1 has been released! ThemePark is free and Universal!

Down with Aqua! ThemePark lets you give your computer a style of its own.

Use ThemePark to create or modify the way Mac OS X looks, as well as to change the appearance of individual applications. Just draw titlebars, buttons, and other widgets in the graphics editor of your choice, and move them into ThemePark to create a new theme or modify an existing one. Also use ThemePark to create icon sets that can change every icon on your system, even common document icons.

With ThemePark, you can:

  • Create guiKits for use with Unsanity's ShapeShifter;
  • Create new themes or icon sets using your own graphics;
  • Merge your theme with an existing one to use it as a base or to make small tweaks to someone else's theme;
  • Quickly preview your theme while you're constructing it;
  • Easily find the element you're looking for using ThemePark's smart organization, filtering, and inline hints;
  • Save in-progress themes and easily see which areas you've already modified;
  • Edit resource files found inside of many applications;

Here are some (moderately outdated) instructions for using ThemePark to create themes.

Version 3.1 added the following enhancements:

New Features
  • ThemePark is now freeware! No more chasing the "Use For Free" button! Donations are, of course, still welcome. spacer
  • New application graphics courtesy of Adam Betts.
  • ThemePark is now a Universal Binary and can now generate Universal guiKit files.
  • ThemePark can now read/write resource files in the little-endian "Extras2.rsrc" Intel format.
  • Added "Extras2" Open Special menu item.
  • Added ability to theme "Unified" windows.
  • Updated iContainer support.
  • Added the ability to merge one or more TPARK or iContainer icon sets into an existing icon set. Only unmodified icons are changed during a merge. This is a good way to mix'n'match icon sets.
  • ThemePark now supports Application iContainers.
  • Send to Photoshop now sends a PNG rather than a TIFF. This allows Photoshop to show a nicely masked image rather than an image with an alpha channel on a black background.
  • Speed improvements and bug fixes to the ppat editor. Images that contain more than 256 colors are now treated much more nicely. The ppat editor now handles images with transparency without choking.
Bug Fixes
  • Pasting multiple images simultaneously into ThemePark works properly again.
  • Fixed automatic conversion of pxm# to ppat resources. This resolves an issue with "Window Background" that caused invalid backgrounds for Cocoa windows. If this affects you, copy/paste the "Window Background" element to fix it.
  • Miscellaneous app skin editor fixes: ThemePark now allows elements for applications that are not actually present on your computer to be moved between app skins. Deleting app skin elements no longer leaves orphaned application entries behind. It's now possible to copy/paste or drag/drop app skin entries into a completely empty app skin.
  • Newly created App skin templates now prevent multiple elements from having the same identifier. Duplicate identifiers may be removed from existing App Skin templates by opening them for editing and then saving them. This issue may have caused App Skin template corruption.
  • Work-around for an OS X bug that causes certain images with transparency that are Received from Photoshop to appear garbled.
  • Resolved an issue that could cause black and white PICT images not to appear properly (iTunes HUD Scroll Mask in AmunRaa, for example). This issue may have caused App Skin template corruption.
  • Moving variants between guiKits no longer corrupts the resulting guiKit.
  • Switched the placement of the "Delete Variant" panel buttons so that they're consistent.
  • Attempt to resolve an issue that could cause customized iTunes fonts to display improperly.
  • Resolved an issue that caused certain valid rsrc types not to appear when editing an application skin's structure.
  • Resolved an issue that could prevent editing of various application skins.
  • Resolved an issue that caused Merge With Installed Elements to mangle the image masks on iTunes application skins.
  • The pxm# image editor now shows four digits for the image width and height.
  • Patterns that use more than 128 colors now render properly.
  • guiKits generated with this version of ThemePark now display a message indicating that they're too new to be used when they're loaded into any version of ShapeShifter earlier than 2.4. Previously, they would pretend to work but revert to Aqua as soon as any application was launched.
