AVENGERS REVIEW: Joss Smash

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

We were both completely bloody beside ourselves watching the single greatest comic book movie ever made (Nolan who?). But even in Joss’ near perfect comicbook movie with it’s 200M opening weekend, we had a few nits to pick here and there… but hey, we’re geeks!

THE AVENGERS PREVIEW: It’s All Been Leading Up To This

Friday, April 27th, 2012

There are a few things Marvel does better than DC and one of them is Movies. Not Movie, MovieS. Making them all live in the same world, acknowledge each other and impact the next is something that Marvel has done to promise us that everything we love in the books could happen in the films. And in May, it just might. With Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow and Hawkeye already established, we’ll be introduced to a new Incredible Hulk in the Avengers, a team led by Nick Fury, who has had a hand in every stand-alone film leading up to now. But they never truly need to stand alone, do they?

THE AVENGERS: In This Together Now… Some More Than Others

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

How awesome is this!? The creator of such cancelled gems as Firefly (Fox) Dollhouse (Fox) and Angel (Fox) now has the big screen bravado of Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark and Sam Jackson’s Nick Fury speaking his sarcastically delicious dialogue in the biggest superhero movie of all time. A helluva step up if you ask us.

Sure, it looks more like Iron Man 3 with some Chrises Evans and Hemsworth cameos, but you can’t help but love the way Tony admires Dr. Banner’s work.

Plus, Tony keeps wearing a Black Sabbath shirt, which is pure Iron Man.

GREEN LANTERN REVIEW: Ring Capacity About 50-50…

Friday, July 1st, 2011

One of Matt’s all-time favourite super heroes comes to the big screen with a huge ad campaign and word of a sequel already greenlit by a Warner Brothers and DC who couldn’t be greener with envy over Marvel’s box office streak and impending Avengers movie… but before sequel and Justice League talk gets out of hand, was “Green Lantern” actually any good as a movie of its own or as an adaptation? Well, Matt’s nickname for the film was “Green Lanturd” if that’s any hint… but what did you think?

X-MEN REVIEW: First Class is All Class

Sunday, June 26th, 2011

Certainly overdue, but with Nat on vacation during an X-Men film release, it’s tough to keep up! How does free love and mutually assured distruction get along with a prequel/reboot of the X-Men franchise? Well, the killer casting and promise of a cameo or two made First Class have some initial excitement to off-set the fear of making this movie in a short 10-months… Doesn’t seem like very long until you consider that’s how long we have to wait for another episode of Game of Thrones!
