Angling

One of the most popular activities in the region would have to be angling on the Zambezi River. Head out onto the Zambezi in one of our fishing boats, to try your luck (and skill of course) with the famous Tiger Fish. Plenty of other species abound, but a fight with a Tiger Fish is one that will stay with you for life. Keen anglers can also search for bream, vundu, nkupi and plenty of other species of tropical fish.

Our guides are exceptionally experienced, and will assist where required/requested. From beginner to advanced, this activity brings out the true sports fisherman in anyone.

Fishing is available either morning or afternoon – start your day on the river early morning or a little later if preferred (remember the early bird gets the worm!), and you will be back at the lodge for breakfast around 9.30am. Alternatively, we will take you out on the river around 4pm, for a late afternoon of fishing, arriving back at the lodge around 6pm-6.30pm. All tackle is provided, however guests are welcome to use their own rods and equipment. Fly fishers will need to bring all their own equipment.

Please note that we have a strict catch & release policy for all fishing, so don’t forget your camera to record your successes!

Note that some of our fishing boats do not have covers (so as not to impede movement, casting etc.), so protection from the sun (hats, sunscreen, long sleeved shirts) is recommended.

Please note that from December 1 to March 1 each year, there is a fishing ban throughout Zambia, so fishing is NOT available as an activity at Kanyemba Lodge during this time.
