A Lifetime of Working for Change.

Democratic Attorney Tracey Brooks is running for Congress because she knows our next Representative must be an agent of change.

Tracey Brooks has been a dedicated agent for change in our community from the moment that she joined the Community Service Corps in Syracuse right out of college, where she spent a year giving back by working with pregnant and parenting teens and then continued that work in Schenectady.

That's why Tracey studied law and has devoted her professional career to public service – so she could more effectively advocate for those in need of a helping hand, for those who want a louder voice, for those who call for change, whether they live in Amsterdam or Albany, Cobleskill or Colonie, Schoharie or Schenectady.

************

As a Catholic Charities program director and then as a peri-natal out reach worker for the Schenectady Family Health Center, Tracey saw firsthand the powerful impact of good policy and good people who serve the public.

Later, Tracey Brooks went to work with the Legislature. There she helped negotiate legislation to protect our families’ homes and increase access to education.

Most recently, Tracey Brooks served as Regional Director for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, where she worked hard to help maximize and leverage investments in our local communities to improve economic development, health care, education and our neglected local infrastructure.

************

As our new Congresswoman, Tracey will work with a new Democratic President to change the Bush Administration policies that have been so devastating to our families, our communities and our country.

The Right Experience to Get Results.

Tracey Brooks represented Senator Clinton in her work with government, political and community leaders in 15 counties in New York State, including Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer, Fulton, Montgomery, Schoharie and Saratoga. She served as the Senator’s liaison to New York State government and statewide associations, and worked with them to help secure federal resources for upstate counties in the areas of economic development, health care, education and infrastructure.

Prior to her work with Senator Clinton, Tracey Brooks served as Counsel to the Assembly Judiciary and Codes Committees. She earned a name there as a respected negotiator, working on bills to require licensing for home inspectors in New York State and provide education for student achievers.

************

In 2002, Tracey Brooks was the Democratic nominee for the New York State Assembly, 108th District. She challenged a ten year Republican incumbent who had never faced a strong opponent and came within three points of an upset victory.

Tracey Brooks has practiced law in both the public and private sectors, working on a wide range of legal and policy-related issues.

Prior to entering Albany Law School, she served as a human service worker with Schenectady Family Health Services, and as a paralegal in Albany and Washington, D.C.

Tracey Brooks attended Albany Law School on an Edgar and Margaret Sandman Fellowship in Aging Law and Policy, published research on alternative dispute resolution, and received the school’s inaugural Kate Stoneman award for gender equity and policy. She received her J.D. in 2000, and earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from LeMoyne College in Syracuse in 1992.

************

She was born in Albany and raised in Clifton Park, where she attended public schools and played on a State championship basketball team. She now resides in Coeymans, New York, where many members of her family are also involved in public and community service.
