Digging Down Deep: The SK 6XD

Submitted By Full Limit Outdoor Media

spacer Baits get hot in the fishing world overnight. It happens all of the time. Someone catches a giant bass on this, or someone wins a tournament on that. It is so common that we don’t even think about the progression of how the lure came to be, or what characteristics make it different from similar offerings. We just know that it’s hot now. It doesn’t matter if it’s brand new or older than dirt. All we know is that for some strange reason, the fish just found out about this bait and that’s all they will eat.

Here is the reality behind this scenario. Baits get hot for a couple of logical reasons. One is that it is a niche deal that is mega-dialed in when the stars line up. This type of instance is very situational and is typically short-lived. Possibility numero dos is what all lure manufacturers strive for. It is what anglers look for. It is what propels a particular lure to household status. It is the fact that every now and then a bait comes out that is inherently better than its competition. It is well-rounded in its genre. It catches fish in multiple situations. It is a proven winner.

Finishing Up In Florida

Submitted By Full Limit Outdoor Media

The Bassmaster Tour finished up its Florida leg and now with 2 tournaments, or a quarter of the season, completed, the anglers have a three week break before their next derby on Bull Shoals Lake in Missouri.

The Strike King Elite Team had a very good showing in the Sunshine State with 2 anglers making the cut at the St. Johns River and 3 more at Okeechobee. Here is the low down straight from our guys:

Shaw Grigsby: 4th Place - Total Weight: 79 lbs. 2 oz.

spacer Shaw, or the man with the million dollar mustache, is a native Floridian. He won an Elite event in Florida on the Harris Chain in 2011 and was fresh off of a 23rd place finish at last week’s St. Johns River Showdown. He is renowned for his shallow water exploits, most notably during the spawn. He had a lackluster day one (11-7), followed by a respectable day two (14-15). He then posted an epic day three (30-7) and a strong final day (22-5). The conclusion of the event left Shaw in 4th place and off to a strong 2012 Bassmaster tour campaign. Here is how Shaw tackled the “Big O."

Strike King Re-Introduces the 6.5" Shadalicious Swimbait

spacer Collierville, TN (March 23, 2012) – The Shadalicious swimbait from Strike King has been a favorite of anglers targeting multiple species throughout the world since its introduction. Its soft texture and hollow-bodied design allowed it to swim with an uninhibited motion to more resemble live bait. Its colors were very precise, and allowed for any forage or water color scenario. The Shadalicious was initially offered in four sizes and all were very popular. Eventually, the big swimbait craze cooled off and most bass anglers found different ways to apply the mid-sized baits for most situations. Sales of the largest version, the 6.5” model, declined and it was removed from the lineup.

Hackney and Combs Finish Strong

spacer Strike King Pro Greg Hackney was in contention all week at the 2012 Elite Series St. Johns River Showdown. After Day 1 Greg was sitting in 2nd Place only 2 oz. behind Day One leader J. Todd Tucker.
