Treating Women Who Have Disabilities

Article in Lancaster Sunday Newspaper

Grand Opening A Huge Success

September 29, 2011

United Disabilities Services was thrilled to open its doors of the brand new Accessible Living Center, which is the home of our Accessible Home Modifications, Custom Wheelchair Seating and Service Dog Program. With over 300 individuals passing through our doors that day, we cannot thank our guests enough for coming out and showing their support.

The day featured many local vendors including, ServPro of Western Lancaster County, AXA, Derr Medical Equipment, Chiropractic 1st, Gentiva, I AM ABLE Foundation, Kauffman Gamber Physical Therapy, Pavelko Senior Consulting, LLC, The Sierra Group, Red Rose Transit Authority, Gateway Realty and Yarnell Security.

UDS also embraced the day to recognize many significant donors on our new Service Dog Donor wall and our Don Martin Life Team Achievement Award Donor wall. For the first time in the organizations history, we were able to permanently recognize donors and thank them for their continuous dedication to the mission of United Disabilities Services.

Medicaid regulations are requiring a policy change in how some consumer-directed attendant care services are paid for. The change will reduce the amount UDS is paid to provide services. This could make it financially impossible for UDS and other provider agencies to deliver services after the proposed changes are implemented.
