WebAIM is committed to protecting the privacy of WAVE users. WebAIM does not collect any personally identifiable information about WAVE users such as name, address, phone number, email address, or financial data. WebAIM does not sell or share any information about specific WAVE users to any third parties.
WebAIM does collect anonymous technical usage statistics for the purposes of WAVE quality assurance, debugging, and product improvement. These statistics are limited to the type of information obtainable automatically through standard internet usage software. Specifically, WebAIM logs the user's operating system, browser, IP address, session information, and the URL of the site(s) being evaluated by the user. Cookies are used to maintain the session. This information is stored in a secure location, accessible only to WAVE development staff and technical support personnel.
Under no circumstances does WebAIM share with third parties the URL of the site being evaluated, nor does WebAIM monitor the WAVE accessibility feedback for these URLs. Whether WAVE identifies accessibility errors or not is private information known only to the end user.
The download procedure for WAVE source code requires that users supply a valid email address in order to receive personalized download instructions. This email address is not kept on file and is not shared or sold to any third parties. Users are not required to download the source code in order to use the free online public version of WAVE on the WebAIM server.
