You might be wondering… why “videos of kittens”? And also, where are the kittens?!

Here’s the story:
It was one of my favorite tech support calls. Here at the university, I get some pretty amazing calls from panicked and/or confused people. This caller (who happened to be one of my favorite customers, honestly) was both of those things.

“Emily, I need you to come look at my computer right away. I think there’s something wrong with it. Every time I walk away for a few minutes, when I come back… it’s… it’s… it’s playing videos of kittens.” She was so mortified, she whispered the last part into the phone.

Now, you might think that was a double entendre, but no. Thankfully. We already get enough of those kitty videos around here.

In this case, the woman had downloaded some adware on her PC, which changed her screensaver to—you guessed it!—the dreaded videos of kittens.

Personally, I thought they were kinda cute. But I fixed it for her anyway.
