HONOLULU – The University of New Orleans men's basketball team will travel to their eighth state and fourth time zone of the season as they pay a visit to Hawaii on Tuesday night at 11 p.m. CT.

The trip is the first to Hawaii since 2003 and the fifth in school history for a UNO (15-11) program that has posted a 5-5 mark when playing in the state.

The Privateers will seek to pass a challenging test against Hawaii (14-11) and it all begins in maintaining possession of the ball. A complete team effort, UNO has produced eight straight games with positive assist to turnover ratios and is averaging 9.1 more assists than turnovers over that stretch.

On a roster in which seven players have had at least one game with five assists this season, Brandon Knight sticks out amongst the group.

The guard has had 13 games with at least five assists this year, including nine in which he has had multiple assists without a turnover – most recently, an eight assist without turnover effort against Loyola this past Wednesday.

Knight presently ranks No. 1 in NCAA Division I in assist to turnover ratio with 3.7 assists for every turnover. The success passing the ball carries over to the team's leading scorers Lovell Cook and Antonio Wertz, who got in the act with four assists apiece in the win over the Wolfpack.

While Cook averages 14.3 points and Wertz adds another 11.3 points an outing, the duo played a role in an unselfish style of play that allowed all 11 Privateers to score against LU.

Overall, 12 players on the UNO roster have had at least 10 points this season and with this type of depth, the Privateer bench has outscored opponents in 18 of 26 contests.

Continuing the success will be difficult at the Stan Sheriff Center where Hawaii is 9-5 this year, including a 62-58 win over Fresno State this past weekend.

Zane Johnson is the Warriors' leading scorer at 14.9 points per game and is followed by the duo of Vander Joaquim and Joston Thomas at 14.7 and 14.0 points per outing, respectively.

Hawaii maintains a 3-1 edge in the all-time series against UNO with the lone setback coming during the 1987-88 season when Art Tolis was in the midst of directing the Privateers to an American South regular season co-championship and National Invitational Tournament bid.

Following Tuesday night's contest, UNO will return to the Crescent City to take on Southern-New Orleans at The Castle this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The Privateers claimed an 82-71 win against the squad on Jan. 19 at Lakefront Arena.
