Day two report from the Midterm conference
The second day of the e-harbours mid term conference in Bruges (Belgium) featured interesting examples of Smart Grids in the making, and strengthened the links with corresponding European programs.
The first day of the mid term conference concentrated on the economic aspects of Smart Grids, analyzing the possible benefits, but also the economic and financial barriers that hinder the deployment of new intelligent electricity systems. On the second day, the focus was on social aspects of Smart Grids. How do we get Smart Grids organized ? And how do we win consumer support for a technology that will influence our daily lives?

First day report from the midterm conference
I-SUP hosts the mid-term conference of the European program e-harbours. Seven harbour regions around the North Sea investigate the advantages of Smart Grids.
In the first session of the mid-term conference two e-harbours showcases presented their findings. The case for Smart Grids was eloquently put forward by Hans Schäfers of the Hamburg showcase. The rising share of renewable resources in the electricity generation makes Smart Grids indispensable. The electricity grid has to adapt to the fluctuating input delivered by wind turbines and solar systems. Balancing demand and generation gets ever more important.

e-harbours participates in Smart City Event 2012 Amsterdam
At the Smart City Event 2012 in Amsterdam this summer, representatives of the most advanced smart cities in Europe present their climate neutral projects and share their experiences. The program includes sessions on Smart Mobility and Smart Grids. The e-harbours team is proud to present the findings of our showcases during this two-day event.
