Lee Sees Injury Positives

Tadanari Lee hopes that the disappointment of missing out on the closing stages of Saints' promotion-winning season will make playing in the Premier League even sweeter.

The Japanese striker moved to St Mary's in January, and quickly became a fans' favourite with some impressive early performances.

Lee's strike in the 4-0 win over Derby County - his first for the club - would even go on to be voted by Saints supporters as their Goal of the Season.

However, the 26-year-old's enjoyable start to life in England was tempered by the heartbreak of suffering a foot injury in mid-March to curtail his season.

Chun's teammates went on to secure promotion in his absence, leaving the Japan international excited about the prospect of playing in the top flight next year.

"I am happy to be a part of the team that was planning and pursuing promotion to the Premier League," Lee exclusively tells Saints Player.

"It was a good first step into English football.

"It was unfortunate not being able to play, but if I can perform next year then that means that this injury will turn out to be a very positive experience so I would like to do well next season.

"At the moment, my focus is on the Premier League," adds the striker, who says he is most looking forward to facing Chelsea next season given they could well be crowned as Champions League winners this weekend.

"By doing well there, I would like to turn the experience of this year into a positive one for the next year."
