The flying cyclists … tales about taking a tandem bike and a paraglider down the path less travelled.

Welcome to our website. We, Ashley and Laura, are riding our tandem bike across Europe and Asia all the way home to Australia.

We’ll start in England then work our way through the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy Slovenia , Croatia , Bosnia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Tibet, Nepal, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and finally on to home soil.

This is very much subject to change depending on border crossings and general bad map reading.

You might ask yourself at this point why on earth we’re doing this. We’re in our twenties so shouldn’t we taking out a loan? Paying taxes? Binge drinking on weekends? Probably. Instead we’re going to retire (at least temporarily) but we thought an RV wasn’t quite our style. Here’s us…

Yes that’s right: a tandem.

If you’ve read this far into our madness then surely you must be wondering by now, “why are they the flying cyclists?”. The answer to that is in the trailer. Unzip it and you will find a paraglider! We intend to fly it as much as possible in as many countries as possible, but not while cycling of course. That would be insane.

Ivo! We miss you already! We’ve had a change of plans and are coming back to your place tonight…. haha! No really, we’ve detoured to the island of Krk and have just had a beautiful cold swim in the sea. We like so much we think we might just island hop down the coast!

Island Krk = From Valbiska port to Lopar (island Rab) you have 2 runs only.

Island Rab = From the Rab town there is small boat that floats over to the tip of island Pag.(Tovarnele)

Your constant plane changing and diversions are sure sign of (cycling) Zen achievement.

Sorry, that I only heard about your trip today. I am a Mad Cyclogist from Bundaberg and I have an exchange student daughter living in Angers – she was in Bundy in 2007 and went to Kepnock. Her family are into kitesurfing so it would have been great it you could have met them but I’m guessing you’ve moved on from Angers a while ago now

Lovely to hear this as I lived. there duiring my early married life at 12 St Owen where my husband was a dentist and we had a ghost. We later lived further out at Munstone where our two sons were born. It brought back so many memories. By the way Hreford is a city not a small town because it has a Cathedral. I don’t think it is that small any more either. It is about 16 miles from the Welsh border.
Take care on your journey. Maredith
