The Helford River Association, now in its 45th year, aims

  • To safeguard and help maintain the unique charms of the Helford River and the surrounding countryside.
  • To exercise the closest scrutiny in relation to proposed developments or changes in that area.
  • To protect the existing rights of the public over the water and its shores.
  • To make representations to the authorities in any case where it appears that the area will be adversely affected by any proposals, or where it appears that any part of the area could be improved for the benefit of the public at large.

The HRA represents a wide variety of stakeholders from around the River – with the common aim of preserving the Helford from inappropriate and intrusive development.  An elected Committee meet regularly to consider current issues which arise concerning the river.  The HRA is open to all and new members are always welcome.  A membership application can be downloaded here.

An Annual General Meeting is held in March each year and occasionally an Emergency Meeting may be called to deal with urgent matters. The Association holds an Autumn Social Event in September of each year, usually at an interesting venue close to the river.
