PAIN: 3D

June 9, 2010

Sony's interest in stereoscopic 3D gaming has long been rumored and tomorrow Idol Minds does its part to help out.  PAIN is now available in 3D!  For a game that was never designed to be viewed in 3D, it has been quite an achievement to be able to make this happen.  Download the patch and check out the new modes.

Of course you need a new Bravia 3D HDTV to view the game and Sony is offering a cross-promotional incentive to help out.  Buy a new TV and you'll get a voucher for a free copy of PAIN and several other PS3 titles.  It's a great deal, so check it out!

PAIN: Museum

June 3, 2009

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to our grand Museum opening - complete with the famous Creation of Jarvis painting, the Apollo Lunar Module and the Wright Flyer I.  Be the first ones through the door of this exquisite museum and enjoy the many fragile and valuable artifacts.  Do however keep an eye out for that public nuisance Jarvis and notify security immediately if he is spotted on the premises.

Idol Minds is pleased to announce the upcoming release of the next add on theme for the hit PSN title PAIN.  Available this summer, the Museum takes PAIN to new heights of destruction.  We'll announce the release date as soon as it's finalized.

SONY has just released a promo video for PAINalypmics, which is a new mode we’ve added to the Sore Spots add on pack for PAIN.

PAIN: Sore Spots

April 29, 2009

The ‘most downloaded PS3 title’ so far has just announced the upcoming release of the Sore Spots theme for PAIN.  This new expansion adds two new environments: the Morningwood High Reunion and the alien-infested PROBE military site.

Along with this paid content, we’re also pleased to include several new playable characters, including DAXTER from Naughty Dog’s iconic series.  The Sore Spots is scheduled for release in the middle of May.

PAIN: Smack Pack

April 6, 2009

Get ready for two new ways to bring the PAIN!  The Smack Pack is the latest add-on for PAIN, which features two new game modes, Darts and Fortress.

In Fortress, can you defend your castle from destruction while simultaneously eliminating your opponents?

In Darts, your favorite characters become human darts to be hurled towards a giant billboard with bull’s-eyes painted on it.  In both these modes, can you score before your opponents knock you out of the sky?

Purchase the Smack Pack either in-game or from the PSN store and play these games either offline or online.

PAIN goes ONLINE

March 18, 2009

At GDC, in 2007, we discussed bringing PAIN online with the crew at Havok (the guys who make the physics engine we use).

They called us mad!

They told us it couldn’t be done…

They told us it would be too laggy.

So, we decided to prove them wrong!

Available starting today, PAIN has been patched for free to include Online play.

February 26, 2009

We’re pleased to welcome the last remaining corner of the globe to the PAIN family!  Later today the Japanese version of PAIN (called Mr. PAIN) will be released and we will be officially worldwide.

Hello to all the new players and many thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make this a reality!

Abusement Park patch

September 30, 2008

Our first big release for PAIN is now available for everyone to download.  After many late nights and a ton of effort we’ve released the second theme for PAIN.  We wanted to make sure that the second environment encapsulated everything painful and added something new.  We’re overjoyed with how Uncle Jimmy’s Fun Spot turned out and can’t wait to inflict his brand of nasty on you.  Join him at his amusement park and try not to touch anything sticky!

PAIN in review
January 3, 2008

We’ve really enjoyed reading the reviews from all the different sites and are thoroughly pleased that the greatest complaint is that people can’t get enough!  We’re hard at work on the next major release (an Amusement Park setting) and will get it out as soon as possible.

Here are some links to PAIN reviews:

“There is nothing more rewarding than having a room full of gamers all cheering and groaning like they were at some twisted sporting event. PAIN is great fun and I highly recommend it.”

“…but for what it is and what it costs, PAIN is hands-down one of the best things ever to hit the PS3.”

Idol Minds releases PAIN
November 27, 2007

Idol Minds and SCEA are absolutely thrilled to announce the release of PAIN for the PLAYSTATION 3.

PAIN is available now in the PlayStation Store for immediate purchase and download.  Priced at $10 PAIN is absolutely the most fun we’ve ever had making a game and we can’t wait to share the laughs with everyone.

This initial release of PAIN contains the Downtown setting and several additional characters that can be purchased.  We’re already deep in production on the next setting and will be releasing many content updates over the next year.
