About
John Fitzgerald, a philosopher, designer, photographer, tandem cycling, boat-dwelling quaker shares philosophical thoughts and occasional photos from Norfolk, Ireland and canals around the UK.
I’m a postgraduate student in philosophy at the University of Edinburgh. I also take on small design projects. Last year I spent three months cycling a tandem to Istanbul, and driving a camper van around Britain and Ireland.
This blog is where my thinking happens. Its title comes from the idea of a counterfactual or contingent truth in philosophy, ‘something that might have been otherwise’. I think it also serves as a good description of the random, unrepeatable nature of some of my photos.
