It would be a rare sight to scroll through an alternative music fan’s iPod and not find at least one song by Blood Red Shoes. Although Laura-Mary Carter and Stephen Ansell haven’t quite hit the giddy heights of the mainstream just yet, their genre spanning sound has kept them in prominence on the music scene for more than five years now, defining them as leaders in their field.

Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Rival Sons are bringing the raw power of Rock & Roll back to a mainstream audience. The combination of weighty vocals and penetrating instrumentation has set them apart from others in their field, leading them to be hailed as forerunners in the new rock revolution, a somewhat exclusive club inhabited by the likes of The Black Keys among others. When listening to their work, comparisons to the classics are rife, whether it’s through the Keith Moon like drum fills, or the Led Zeppelin esque commanding vocals, however a covers band they are not.
