Treasure Hunt 2011

Saturday 13th August

Twenty-eight boats joined the hunt for buried treasure hidden around the Helford river and its many creeks. Brave captains and rascally crew members competed to follow the chart and find the clues they needed  to work out the fiendishly clever cryptic final code which pinpointed the location of the buried treasure.

Black Rock Race 2011

Twenty-one boats entered the Black Rock race despite the rescheduling of the event due to poor weather.

The Sprat Class (under 19ft) was won by Josh Green. First boat home in the Pilchard Class (19-22ft) was Davis Crafts’ Zag Zig closely persued by Bruce McDonald in Guzzy Mac and Peter Goad in Marnie. Amanzimtoti with Roger McDonald at the helm was first in the Mackerel Class (over 22 ft); Steve Kestin was second in Hirondelle, and David Whitmarsh’s Myrtle was third.

Runner Up: Lisa

After the Royal nuptials were over a patriotic crowd enjoyed a barbecue at the club. The promise of a free meal for the wearer of the best hat stimulated all manner of foolish behaviour, but in the end Chef Brett’s tiara struck the right note with judges Tiffa Meadows and Jenny Morris and he was pronounced the winner.
