QUALITY ASSURANCE

As part of its commitment to consistently deliver high quality products, Emirates Steel`s finished goods are available for dispatch only after inspection, testing and classification by the Technical Services Department. The Company operates a well-equipped laboratory and inspection facilities manned by qualified and experienced personnel. All testing, inspection and monitoring procedures are carried out based on international standards and test certificates are provided to our customers.

In 2010, Emirates Steel was awarded the certification to manufacture Grade B500B rebar and coil conforming to BS 4449:2005 by the UK Certification Authority for Reinforcing Steels (CARES). The Company is also certified as a quality manufacturer and supplier of products conforming to BS 4449:1997 Grade 460B.

Full tests have been carried out to demonstrate compliance with CARES performance requirements and, on a continuing basis, the Company`s products are tested to ensure ongoing compliance with the tolerance levels of this quality approval certification.

The Company operates a quality system which complies with the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001:2008 and the relevant CARES quality and operations assessment schedules. In addition, Emirates Steel`s rebar has been accredited by the Dubai Central Laboratory Department (DCLD) of the Dubai Municipality as conforming to BS 4449:1997 with Amd.1.

In 2010, the Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones (ZonesCorp) certified Emirates Steel`s Environment, Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) for its compliance with the Abu Dhabi Industrial Sector Regulatory Codes of Practice. The Company is one of the first "Category 3" businesses to receive this accreditation in the first year of EHSMS implementation for the industrial sector. This involved the development of an Integrated Management System (IMS) to comply with the requirements of the industrial sector`s EHSMS framework. The IMS was designed to conform to international standards ISO 9001 for Quality Management System, ISO 14001 for Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System. In addition, the international certification body TUV Nord has certified Emirates Steel`s Management System as compliant with ISO 14001:2009 and OHSAS 18001:2007.

Emirates Steel`s efforts in ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction secured the Company in November 2010 the prestigious Emirates Quality Mark, only two months after applying for the certification. And in February 2011, the Company gained the UK CARES Sustainable Reinforcing Steel certification for the production of continuously cast steel billets and carbon steel bars for the reinforcement of concrete. Back then, Emirates Steel was the first steel maker in the GCC region to attain such independent accreditation.
