Police Links

There is an amazing amount of good information on the web and an amazing amount of crap.  These links are our best sources of good information for officers with a focus on police use of force.

Police Blogs

Our Favorite Police Blogs and 80 Others

Police Websites

Force Science Institute:  Sign up for their free newsletter, which provides cutting edge use of force research for police officers and administrators.

Warrior Science Group:  Created by Dave Grossman, a major researcher and innovator for police use of force.

Life Line Training : Created by Lt. Jim Glennon, an excellent police trainer and writer.

Police Driving International: Created by Capt. Travis Yates, a writer at Police One and a leader in police driving issues and training.

Police One:  The industry leader in useful web articles.  They are heavy on the ads though, sometimes it is not easy to navigate through them to the useful stuff.

Law Officer:  The magazine is excellent and you can subscribe for free from their website.

Xiphos:  Free bi-weekly newsletter about recent court cases that affect police.  See review.

Officer Resource:  Officer forums and interesting articles from around the police blogosphere.  See review.

Police Training

Calibre Press Street Survival Seminar:  The best street officer school in the industry.

Combat Shooting and Tactics (CSAT):   Founded by Paul Howe, a Delta Force team leader who is best known in the book and movie, Blackhawk Down.  He is on the cutting edge of practical tactics and techniques for patrol officers and SWAT.

Tactical Life Saver: Founded by Sgt. Glenn French, who we regularly link to in our recommended police use of force articles. We have not seen his training because it’s across the country from us but he writes great articles and has great credentials so we believe his training will probably fit the same pattern. Sgt. French also wrote the book, The Police Tactical Lifesaver.

Institute for Law Enforcement Administration (ILEA):  Their Management College is their flagship program and considered prestigious on your resume.  Both of us went through it and endorse it.  The Use of Force Conference they host every two years is excellent.  Click on the link to order DVDs from the 2008 Use of Force Conference. The next conference is in Oct 2010.

K9 Training

Eden K9:  Produces the International Police K9 Conference.

Invictus Tactical:  Produces the LawDog Conference in Las Vegas.

Canine Legal Update and Opinion:  Documents the best practices and federal court cases for police K9 handlers and administrators.  See review.

Police Associations

International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA):  Provides several resources with membership including free subscriptions to several police magazines and industry newsletters.

United States Police Canine Association (USPCA):  Largest Police Dog Association
