Affiliate marketing is a well known way to generate revenue on the internet. Google “affiliate marketing” and you get back over 35 million results! And according to Wikipedia, “MarketingSherpa’s research team roughly estimates affiliates worldwide will earn $6.5 billion in bounty and commissions in 2006.” So if that estimate is correct, I’ve earned about 0.000000012% of that so far this year.

Wal-Mart Bank Idea Canned
Bankers are generally stiff, cautious, and perhaps stuffy people. At least according to common stereotypes. But when you threaten them, they can apparently get things done. When Wal-Mart was toying with the idea of opening their own bank the Community Bankers Association of Illinois decided to rollback that idea. They helped get legislation through the Illinois legislature that would ban such actions.

FIG: Fortress Investment Group
I posted a preview of the Fortress Investment Group (FIG) IPO two days before they went public. The expected IPO price was $17.50 but the final IPO price was $18.50 and shares quickly rose. On the day of the initial public offering, February 9th, the shares topped out at $31! Following some profit taking, the stock sits near $28.
