Emerging Urban Challenges

The world is now predominantly urban. Yet our cities are facing unprecedented challenges on their ability to cope with global shifts and change.  To help focus and address these challenges, the IFHP has been undertaking a number of parallel initiatives that build upon its mission statement.

The IFHP is in the process of identifying and addressing emerging urban development challenges.  Towards this end we are working together with and establishing a number of key collaborations with foundations, institutions, universities, groups and select individuals.  A recent think tank entitled: “Another Urban Future”, has identified eight broad areas that are likely to dominate the future development of cities.  These issues embrace issues of complexity, community and liveability.  Such concerns will be embodied in the IFHP’s centenary year 2013 agenda and beyond.
