As customary with any major conference keynote, publications around the world walk away with a sneak peak of what Microsoft believes is the future. David Fearon, of ITPro News, shares his view of Microsoft's plans with the newly released Powershell and how he views its impact.
"Powershells release is yet more evidence that Microsoft's server strategy is going for the jugular of applications that are seen as Unix and Linux strongholds," says Fearon. He based this opinion on his perspective of the demonstration done at the keynote whereby a PHP application was deployed to a web farm running on IIS7. Beyond just deploying the existing application, Powershell architect Jeffrey Snover demonstrated how configuration features may be tweaked using Powershell and enabled OutputCaching.
