Gallery 263 (G263) is a multi-purpose nonprofit art gallery in Cambridge, MA devoted to providing the community with a welcoming environment in which to create, discuss, and experience art of all media. Beyond offering a space for artists to present their work, the Gallery invites the public to become involved with the creative process through workshops, film presentations, lectures, music performances, juried show competitions and yoga. Within the Artist in Residency Program, artists experiment, innovate, and educate on individual and collaborative levels. Gallery 263 is dedicated to furthering its service as it engages the community in the arts.

Curatorial Proposal Series

Premise: Gallery 263 is accepting applications for its Fall 2012 Curatorial Proposal Series. The Series provides artists of all media and experience levels a chance to experiment with the organization and presentation of contemporary art. At least 50% of CPS exhibitions will include local artists (from within the metro Boston area). Three exhibitions will be selected for Fall 2012. Group proposals are strongly encouraged.

  • Applications should include a thesis statement that links the individual works into a cohesive exhibition.
  • Group and solo exhibitions of all media are welcome to apply, submitted by a representative curator.
  • A representative curator can be the artist proposing a solo exhibition for him/herself, a representative artist proposing an exhibition as part of a group OR an independent curator(s) proposing an exhibition on behalf of an artist or group of artists.
  • Entries may be either existing or proposed work. Existing work is required for the First Fall exhibition.
  • Proposals should be in consideration of Gallery 263's space. Site-visits are strongly encouraged.
  • 2D (painting, drawing, photography, etc.), 3D (sculpture, assemblage, etc.), video and installation work accepted for consideration (installations must take up less than 25% of floor surface area).
  • New England artists eligible for consideration: MA, NH, CT, RI, VT, ME
