About Our Classes:

Annoyance's improv training is guided by our Artistic Director, Mick Napier and based on the approach found in his book Improvise. Scene from the Inside Out.

We are known for giving specific, individualized feedback to our students and helping them to develop and maintain a strong individual voice in their improvisation.

Our classes focus on scenic improvisation, that is, we don't focus on performance games, rules of improvisation, or performance styles such as "The Harold".

Through scenework, classes address the beginning, or initiation of a scene; developing and maintaining strong characters; learning to hold on to your initial choices while at the same time, expanding on (heightening) the choices you have made; and learning to become deft at creating and weaving unexpected, character-based choices into your work.

We maintain small class sizes, and all of our teachers are ensemble members who have learned and performed with Annoyance, and thus have first hand experience with the way we approach improvisation at Annoyance.

Early Registration Period

12:00 PM CST May 3 - May 10 11:59PM CST, register FOR CLASSES during this period and receive a $20 discount.

In-Person or Phone Registration

You may call or come in person to register from 12-2pm on the first day of registration. After that time, please see class administrator's office hours in the right hand column of this page to call or register in person.

If the class you would like to register for is sold out or otherwise unavailable, please contact the class administrator and request to be put on the wait list. You can also request a different class time HERE

Registration is Non-Refundable

Please be sure about your schedule before you register for class. Here's why....

Your enrollment HOLDS A SPACE in a class that we are no longer able to offer someone else.

Your enrollment in the class will not be guaranteed until payment is received.

Class payments are NON-REFUNDABLE, NON-TRANSFERABLE, and can be applied only to the current term's class for which you have signed up.

This applies if you get cast in a show, get a new job, or other situation that changes your schedule. So please be sure about your schedule before you register.

Class Absences

In order to progress to the next level of class, you may miss no more than 2 classes. Please contact the class administrators if you have to miss class, so that you may schedule a time to make it up.

There is no Pre-Requisite for the Ultimate Beginner Improv Class. Students may skip this class and start with AP-2 only if they have completed a full year at iO or The Second City training programs.
