We are very proud to have befriended so many talented hardworking individuals over the years. Some new craft-friends we’ve collaborated with are Hand Eye Supply and Vanport Outfitters, who asked for our advice and help in typesetting, illustrating and printing hang-tags for their new limited edition “American Craftsman Apron.”

This is no typical apron, being that it’s based off of the almost forgotten printer’s apron, set apart by its unique Pica ruler pocket. We love ours, get yours here.

The hang-tags were acquired from our secret source and carefully printed with a kiss impression in a rich chocolate brown ink. Following the tradition of true craftsman printing, set in stone over a 100 years ago.

In addition, another talent we know, Tim Roth of PupilPhoto, will be exhibiting portraits in Portland at Coffee House NW, they will be up all month.  Not to mention Keegan will be sporting the aforementioned apron in his portrait.

As we enter the new year, we are teeming with excitement for the opportunities that lay head, furthermore we now have a lovely yet industrial calendar to track our progress.

Trains, they transport our food, goods, friends, family, and the ink and paper used to print this very broadside; yet another wonderful invention borne from tons of cast iron, impeccable precision, and dedicated craftsmen.

Railway time was the name given to the standardized time arrangement first applied by the Great Western Railway in England in November 1840. This was the first recorded occasion when a number of different local times were synchronized and a single standard time applied. Railway time was progressively taken up by all of the other railway companies in Great Britain over the following two to three years. The times schedules by which trains were organized and the times train stations clocks displayed was brought in line with the local time for London or “London Time”. This was also the time set at Greenwich by the Royal Observatory, which was already widely known as Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). The development of railway networks in North America in the 1850s, India in around 1860, and as well as other countries in Europe, also prompted the introduction of standard time systems influenced by the specific, geographical, industrial development and political governance appertaining.

The key purpose behind introducing railway time was twofold: to overcome the confusion caused by having non-uniform local times in each town and station stop along the expanding railway network and to reduce the incidence of accidents and near misses, which were becoming more frequent as the number of train journeys increased. The railway companies sometimes faced concerted resistance from groups
