FAQs

Q:  If I have cash or check donations can I turn them in at the walk?
A:  YES.  You should visit the Registration Table on walk day to turn in donations.

Q:  If I or members of my family have not registered, will they need to?
A:  YES.  Everyone participating in the walk will need to register and sign the liability waiver.  You can register online prior to the walk or visit the Registration Table on walk day to register and sign the liability waiver. 

Q: Is there a registration fee?
A: Yes, there is a registration fee for everyone 16 years old and older. Children under the age of 16 do not need to pay the walk fee.  But, they do need to be registered by their parents online or at the walk and sign the liability waiver. 

Q:  Is there a minimum amount that I have to raise in order to participate in the walk?
A: No. Although, we encourage each walker to create their online personal page and set a personal fundraising goal.

Q: How much do I need to raise in order to receive a walk t-shirt?
A:  Any registered walker that raised $100 or more will receive a CureSearch Walk T-shirt.  One shirt is provided per walker, not per $100 raised.  Please check in at registration to receive a T-shirt ticket.   

Q:  Can we bring a wheeler chair, stroller, wagons, etc. to the walk?
A:  YES.  The walk is family friendly we make sure that our walk routes are handicap assessable to ensure that everyone can participate in the CureSearch Walk.

Q: Can we bring our dog to the walk?
A: While many public parks allow dogs, we ask that you refrain from bringing dogs to the CureSearch walk. We find that many small children are uncomfortable around dogs and want the event to remain as child friendly as possible.

Q: Who can participate in the CureSearch Walk?
A: Everyone! Our walk brings together the community and we encourage you to bring your family and friends. Our walks are not races or endurance walks. Our walk routes range between 1.5 to 2.5miles, and we usually provide a shorter family fun route for those who can't complete the entire walk.

Q: What are the responsibilities of the Team Captain?
A: The role of the Team Captain is pivotal for The CureSearch Walk. They recruit their friends and family to join their team and help raise money for the walk. In addition, the Team Captains maintain the team's momentum and enthusiasm leading up to the walk.

Q: What is the CureSearch Walk?
A: The CureSearch Walk is a fundraising event that unites people in the fight to reach the day when every child with cancer can be guaranteed a cure. Its goals are to increase awareness of children's cancer and to support life-saving collaborative research in children's cancer. CureSearch walks are about fellowship and community.

Q: Why should we participate in The CureSearch Walk?
A: The CureSearch Walk celebrates and honors children whose lives have been affected by childhood cancer, while raising funds for lifesaving collaborative research. By supporting research at more than 175 hospitals nationwide, treatment is available in children's hometowns, not just at certain cancer hospitals.

Q: Where does the money go that is raised through the CureSearch Walk?
A: Your generous donation supports CureSearch for Children's Cancer, a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support children's cancer research and provide information and resources to all those affected by children's cancer. CureSearch raises funds for collaborative research conducted at more than 175 hospitals across the nation. These hospitals participate in National Cancer Institute sponsored clinical trials conducted by the Children's Oncology Group. In the last 40 years, collaborative research has increased the overall survival rate for children?s cancer from 10% to 78%. At CureSearch, our goal is 100%.

Q: How do I donate online to a participant or a team?
A: Once you've reached The CureSearch Walk website for the city you'd like to donate to, click the "Donate" button at the top of the page. This will prompt you to search for a participant in the walk. Click on the name of the participant you'd like to donate to. On the page that appears, enter the amount you'd like to donate and click "Continue". Then follow the steps for submitting your payment.

To donate to a team, from the homepage of the Walk website, locate the link underneath "Donate" that says "To a Team." A listing of all registered teams will appear on the resulting page; click on the name of the team you'd like to donate to. Their Team Page will appear. When it does, click the "General Team Donation" tab at the top of the page. On the resulting page, enter the amount you'd like to donate and click "Continue." Then follow the steps for submitting your payment.

Q: How do I donate online to the general The CureSearch Walk event?
A: To donate to a team, from the homepage of the Walk website, locate the link underneath "Donate" that says "To the Walk." On the resulting page, enter the amount you'd like to donate and click "Continue." Then follow the steps for submitting your payment.

Q: How do I receive a receipt for my online donation?
A: A receipt will be emailed to you using the email address provided on your donation form.

Q: How do I ask people to support my effort?
A: Our easy-to-use online fundraising site allows you to create your own personal web page and access tools to help you recruit team members and solicit donations. You can use our sample emails, or create your own, and ask everyone you know to join your team as a walker or support you with a donation to your personal page.

Q: If I signed up last year, will I be able to access last year's information?
A: While you will have access to donation reports, as well as your address book (if imported the previous year), you will have to register for this year's walk in order to participate. In order to do so, you must use the exact same username and password combination as the previous year.

Q: What do I do if I've forgotten my username or password or both?
A: Please contact Julie.Sledjeski@curesearch.org, and she will send you a password reset email. This will contain your login name and a link to reset your password.

Photo Upload FAQs

Q:  Can I upload a picture to my personal page?
A:  YES.  Once logged into My HQ click on the green tab titled My Webpage. Ensure that the dropdown box displays the word image and click the blue linked text that says upload. Then, click the browse button to find the picture you would like to use on your personal page on your computer. Then click submit and your photo will be added to your page. You can review how your page will be displayed by clicking the View Personal Page tab.

Q:  Are there any photo size limitations?
A:  YES.  Photos that are more than 100kb in size will be automatically resized to fit appropriately on the page.

Q:  Can I have more than one photo on my personal page?
A:  YES.  You can have a maximum of two images displayed on your personal page. Each photo will be placed side by side.

Q:  Who should I contact if I am having difficulty uploading a photo?
A:  Contact the manager of your event by email. You can find their email address in the left hand side of the page. Please include a detailed description of your problem and attach the photo you are attempting to upload for troubleshooting purposes. Please be aware that it may take time for our team to resolve your issue. Most requests are handled within 24 hours.

Video Upload FAQs

Q: Can I upload a video to my personal page?
A: YES. You can upload appropriate YouTube videos to your personal page. Once logged into My HQ, click on the green tab titled My Webpage. Ensure that the dropdown box displays the word video and click the blue linked text that says upload. Then, copy and paste the url of your YouTube video and click submit for your video to be added to your page. You can review how your page will be displayed by clicking the View Personal Page tab.

Q: Can I upload a video that's not on YouTube?
A: NO. However, most personal video can be uploaded to YouTube if you have a personal YouTube account. YouTube.com has instructions for uploading a personal video if you are unsure of how to do so.

Q: Can I upload more than one video to my personal page?
A: NO. Only one video can be displayed per page.
