1921: The Charlottesville Public Library opened with 5,000 books and the help of Paul Goodloe McIntire.
1929: The first moving picture was shown in Charlottesville
1942: According to Sheriff J. Mason Smith, for the first time in 4 decades, there were no prisoners in the Albemarle County Jail.
1991: The first performance by the Dave Matthews Band took place at a private party on the rooftop of the South Street Warehouse
