The NYCHFF welcomes horror icon Tobe Hooper

This year, the NYCHFF is very pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2004 Lifetime Achievement Award will be writer/director Tobe Hooper. A filmmaker that we all know changed the world with his groundbreaking 1972 film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Tobe Hooper then went on to a brilliant career directing over 35 feature films and TV projects. Mr. Hooper has directed amazing films such as Poltergeist, The Funhouse, Salem's Lot, Lifeforce, and The Mangler.
With no sign of slowing down, now Tobe Hooper is back with a vengeance with his new film The Toolbox Murders. Mr. Hooper will be in attendance to screen the new film and accept the award with Q&A to follow (we will also have a special screening of his original masterpiece The Texas Chainsaw Massacre)

The Competition Series

With over forty-five feature and short films in our competition series, the 2004 festival will be our biggest to date. Please check our website for complete festival lineup, film synopsis ticketing and schedule. www.NYCHorrorfest.com

Invited films:

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The NYCHFF is proud to announce that it has secured a pristine, brand new 35 mm print of Tobe Hooper's 1972 classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. A very rare treat for horror and film aficionados alike.

The Tool Box Murders (2004)
The NYCHFF is very excited to be offering the premiere of Tobe Hooper's The Tool Box Murders. This film has been burning up the festival circuit and we very excited to have it as part of our non-competition lineup. Tobe's remake of this 1972 classic marks his triumphant return behind the camera. Tobe Hooper is back with a vengeance!

Satanโ€™s Little Helper

Cult director Jeff Lieberman (Blue Sunshine, Squirm) is back behind the camera and back with a bang! The NYCHFF will offer special screening of his new film Satan's Little Helper. Hot off it's sold out run at the Tribeca Film Festival, the film stars Amanda Plummer and Katheryn Winnick.

Mad Monster Party
This year, the NYCHFF has put together a very special Halloween pre-event. We will screen the cult classic and digitally re-mastered print of "Mad Monster Party". This children's classic is fun for all ages. The program will also have face painting, balloons, free goody bags for the kids and a special emcee. (tba)

Kick Off Party at Don Hills (NYC)

(Wed, Oct. 20th) Simply put, is the horror event of the year. Last year over 300 hundred attendees partied the night away at Don Hill's to usher in the festival.  With short film screenings, live bands, and a one-hour of open bar at the world famous rock bar Don Hills (511 Greenwich St. NYC) our party is the ultimate rock'in Halloween event.

Panels
We want to educate up and coming filmmakers (and hard core fans) about the reality of making worth while horror films, so each year we have a lively discussion panel centering on the genre and covering topics including: The State of the modern horror film, Film vs. DV, the reality of independent distribution, etc. The 2004 confirmed panelists include Bill Lustig (Producer/Director/Blue Underground), Joe "The Phantom of the Movies" Kane (Journalist) , Michael Grady (Dimension Films) Felissa Rose (actress), Michael Gingold (Fangoria Managing Editor) More TBA. Our panels are lively with lots of audience participation and often end up as heated debates.
