Surfoniani On Stage At The Sj Diner

It has been a while since last time we saw the Italian SURFONIANI in Livorno. We are glad to announce their show on saturday April 14 at the Diner!

Surfin' Sundays Program For Summer 2012

The usual saturday night show with surf bands at the SJ Diner will be moved to SUNDAY during the summertime. We will follow a program of so-called "surfin' sundays" probably on late afternoon. The Razorblades Are Back In Italy

The Razorblades shows went very well although the tour has been pretty short due the cancellation of the first show from the promoter. The show at the SJ Diner has been excellent: audience was much enjoyed by the magic of Martin on guitar with a brilliant show. After a set list of originals and a few relatively obscure covers, the Wipeout at the end really made people dancing. Hope to see this great band again soon!

Surfer Joe's Guitar Rumble - May 21-27

This is big: the largest vintage Fender Guitars exhibition, from private collections, ever done in Italy. Thanks to Mr. Flavio Camorani (private collector) and in collaboration M. Casale Bauer (Fender Italia) we will organize the largest Fender showcase at the Surfer Joe's Diner. Upstairs the club, overlooking the sea, you will be able to look and - eventually - test all the Fender production between 1951 and 1965 with pieces up to 1974. Not only guitars: there will be a massive collection of Fender amps from mid-50s including the whole blonde brownface series. The admission is free, everybody is welcome. The week at the diner will be full of concerts touching many different music genres (blues, jazz, rockabilly, swing, country, surf) and the exhibition will be available for one entire week, from 21.5 to 27.5. Mr. Camorani will guide small groups of visitors through the collection explaining the various construction techniques and the differences between the models. The City of Livorno is officially supporting the event.

Barbwires From Sweden On April

What a band! They have not been in Italy since the Summer Festival 2008 but they have done a lot in the meantime! This band has created a new sound and introduced new ideas connecting surf music to strings and orchestral instruments. The come live as a trio with an amazing impact and terrific performances. SURF MUSIC BOOKING AND PRODUCTIONS

Surfer Joe Music deals with the booking of surf bands and the organization of surf events. With the support of M. Casale Bauer and Fender in Italy we are providing all the necessary instruments and logistics.

We usually book directly or collaborate with other agencies and promoters Europe-wide. In any case we try to be very realistic on the possibilities that the market offers. Surely you will be treated well :-)

Transportation

We normally use the services of a local company for car/van rentals able to meet all the requirements for Italian and European traveling at the cheapest rates.

We can provide a GPS unit with full European maps and a local mobile phone to be in contact throughout the tour in case the artist travels alone.

The closest airport to our offices is Pisa International (PSA) and we provide the pick-up service.

Merchandise

Shipping costs are very high and customs can be expensive. For longer tours we suggest to produce some of the merchandise locally in Italy. We can follow the production and store the material once it is ready.

Also we deal with the printing of posters and flyers using our graphic design or following the artist's requests.

The Convention is the greatest surf music event in the US. Organized by Jeff Big Tiki Dude it really puts together all the American community & more. It is an occasion to meet great artists, friends and legends participating to the concerts and jam sessions for an entire day into surf music. SURF MUSIC: WHAT IS IT?

Surf is generally and historically considered an instrumental music genre derived from rock 'n' roll and blues, born in southern California at the very end of the 50s and largely diffused all over the US between 1961 and 1965.
The music has since then spread out anywhere and surfer joe music is
just an example of how global and intense surf music's production is
today with new surf bands growing and developing every year.
Surfer Joe helps making surf music never die.

Some people think SURF MUSIC had a very short life in the beginning of the 60s in USA, but really this music has never died. The main features of this genre, that from the Dick Dale's sound evolved into a reverb drenched mix of guitars & drums, have been carried on successfully by a large multitude of bands around the globe.
But NOT all instrumental music is surf music... and surf music is NOT "surfers who play some guitar"... :)

Search online for "surf music" and you will find a lot of sources to tell you the stories and facts of this original Californian movement and its great diffusion everywhere!
