Use the 'sample packs' to create remixes of the original tracks using whichever software, technology and techniques you want, but please don't infringe anyone's copyright. Pack 18 - Wey Fikir by Dub Colossus

This track is taken from the second album from the mighty Dub Colossus, back with their inventive fusion of jazz-dub, reggae, Seventies Ethiojazz and traditional tunes. Following the critical acclaim of the original album 'A Town Called Addis' the band are back with 'Addis Through the Looking Glass' - a new set which constantly surprises, moving from atmospheric, wide-screen, drifting jazz-dub instrumentals to breathy love songs and bluesy traditional sounds. We gave you all a track called Simy Eddy from that original album and so successful were the remixes (we even released one on an EP) that we decided to offer you another to play with.

Pack 16 - Like a Hobo by Charlie Winston

A hearty modern gumbo of blues-folk, straight-talking lyricism, and soul, all laced with beatboxing and quirky instrumentation. 'Like a Hobo' conjures Ennio Morricone-gone-folk buzz and heartfelt zen-outsider lyrics... Now it's your chance to put your stamp on this anthemic European hit.

Pack 17 - Not One of Us by Peter Gabriel

'Not One of Us' is taken from one of Q Magazine's top 100 Greatest British Albums. Produced by Steve Lillywhite, this album of May 1980 features Jerry Marotta and Phil Collins drumming, the guitar of Robert Fripp, David Rhodes, Paul Weller and XTC's Dave Gregory. The album produced the 1980 hit single "Games Without Frontiers", and the anthemic "Biko".

'Not One Of Us' is made available here as part of Peter's 'Scratch My Back' project of reciprocal covers. On the record of the same name Peter has covered 'The Book of Love' by The Magnetic Fields, in return Stephin Merritt of The Magnetic fields chose to cover 'Not One Of Us'. In the spirit of the project Peter is making his original version available to the wider world here on Real World Remixed.

Pack 15 - Kele Kele by Justin Adams & Juldeh Camara

Remix pack 14 is a collaboration between Real World Records and World Sessions

Pack 13 - Games Without Frontiers by Peter Gabriel

Games Without Frontiers has recently been remixed with Brand Nubian rapper Lord Jamar to be the theme song for the winter X Games 13 and this summer's X Games 15 in Aspen.

Our largest remix pack to date contains parts from the original 1980 recording and new parts recorded by Peter and Lord Jamar.

Pack 12 - Sima Edy by Dub Colossus

An extraordinary collaboration between contemporary Ethiopian artists and Dubulah (aka Nick Page), bringing hidden gems from Addis Ababa back to England. Dub meets dreamy blues, hypnotic grooves, jazz piano and driving funk brass. Flavours of traditional Azmari singing, 70s reggae and Ethio-pop infuse one of the most alluring and soulful genres of African music.

Pack 11 - Tiger Phone Card by Dengue Fever

Taken from the eagerly-awaited album from the Los Angeles indie-rockers who have made it their mission to revive psychedelic, Khmer rock and roll of the 1960's this track is a spiky feast of jangly guitars, retro keyboards and a pair of fantastic vocals.

Fronted by a super-charismatic Cambodian siren, it's a sonic stew of kitsch surf-rock, spaghetti-Western cool, klezmer, ska, Cambodian pop and even Ethiopian jazz.

Pack 10 - Exit Through You by Big Blue Ball

This track is taken from the long awaited Big Blue Ball, an album recorded over three Real World Recording Weeks, produced by Peter Gabriel and Karl Wallinger and featuring a dizzying array of international musicians. Exit Through You opens with the distinctive vocal of Joseph Arthur with Peter joining at the chorus for a funky spiky pop tune accompanied by Karl and Justin Adams on guitars.

Pack 9 - Kunlarim Sensiz by Sevara

Powered by skippy Timbaland inspired drums and layers of Uzbek percussion, Kunlarim features a mix of the traditional intruments of Uzbekistan, modern electronic production and Sevara's soaring angelic voice.

Pack 8 - Cold Hailey Rainy Night by The Imagined Village

"We are looking for the most Imaginative and inventive re-mix of one of England's oldest stories of love, sex and betrayal: Cold Hailey Rainy Night. This song has been passed down from generation to generation through the oral tradition of folk music. We are now passing it on to you in the Imagined Village of cyber space to be re-invented by the Real World Remix community.

Pack 7 - Salala by Angelique Kidjo

"I was asked to do some singing and try a few things on a lovely track called 'Salala', they (Angelique Kidjo and her record company) are now looking for some remixes and I just thought we'd throw it out to see if any of you were interested to try your magic hands on this material" Peter Gabriel.

Pack 6 - What You Are by Joi

The mystical maestros, the Eastern-leaning experimentalists, Joi, are back and they have provided us with a sample pack from one of the key tracks from their new album, What You Are. Propelled by Western beats, lifted by celestial Indian voices and coloured by traditional Asian and Arabic instrumentation this sample pack really crosses all musical boundaries. Pack 5 - If I Had My Way by Little Axe

This is the opening track to Little Axe's second album on Real World, 'Stone Cold Ohio'. A love letter to Skip 'Little Axe' McDonald's birthplace, this album 'surf's time', fusing the gospel, blues and soul of his youth to the modern principles of Hip Hop and Dub.

Pack 4 - Shock The Monkey by Peter Gabriel

From Peter's fourth self titled album recorded between spring 1981 and summer 1982. This was one of the first tracks to use sampling technology utilizing the ground breaking Fairlight CMI and and other classic machines such as the Linn Drum and the Prophet 5 synth. You can hear these sounds throughout the sample pack.

Pack 3 - Temple Of Sound & Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali

Pack three is from 'People's Colony No 1', a collaboration between 'Temple of Sound" and 'Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali'. Music from a new world inhabited by the ecstatic voices of Sufi mysticism and a mix of contemporary dub/funk/urban beats. Brothers Rizwan and Muazzam are from a direct line of Pakistani qawwali singers, nephews of the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Temple of Sound duo Neil Sparkes and Count Dubulah build tabla loops, bass and drums and together create a joyful backdrop to the soaring voices.

Pack 2 - Los De Abajo

The second pack is from Mexican heavyweights - Los De Abajo - who are the hottest export from Mexico since... well, you can guess the rest! The track - Resistencia - is a building latin / hip hop hybrid featuring some top notch vocals and piano riffs that are sure to inspire.

Pack 1 - The Afro Celt Sound System

The first is by the Afro Celt Sound System, and is a track from their fifth studio album, Anatomic. The track - My Secret Bliss - features the incomparable vocals of Iarla O Lionaird and Sevara, from Ireland and Uzbekistan respectively and is a real meeting of cultures.
