Speculations, published by punctum books, is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal that provides a forum for the exploration of speculative realism and post-continental philosophy. Our aim is to facilitate discussion about ongoing developments within speculative realism. We accept short position papers, full length articles, book reviews, and book review essays. See our current issue HERE.
For our third issue (Speculations III), we aim to open up the problem of speculation as it pertains to the diverse areas of theology, politics, and queer theory. Papers addressing any of these three specific topics will be included in special sections of this issue, and we still seek non-thematic submissions as well. Articles should be no longer than 8,000 words, should follow the Chicago Manual of Style (16th ed.: documentary endnote-humanities style), should include an abstract not totalling more than 150 words, and should be accompanied by a cover sheet detailing author's name and contact information (none of which should be on the article itself). The deadline for submission to Issue III is 8 January 2012, and submissions should be sent to: speculationsjournal@gmail.com
This is no man’s land. But it’s not a bleak nothingness. Bleak nothingness, it turns out, is just the flip side of correlationism’s world. No. This is a crowded Tibetan zoo, an Expressionist parade of uncanny, clownlike objects. We’re not supposed to kowtow to these objects as Burke would wish. Yet we’re not supposed to find our inner freedom either (Kant). It’s like one of those maps with the little red arrow that says You Are Here, only this one says You Are Not Here.
