The Industrial Electronics Society through its members encompasses a diverse range of technical activities devoted to the application of electronics and electrical sciences for the enhancement of industrial and manufacturing processes. These technical activities address the latest developments in intelligent and computer control systems, robotics, factory communications and automation, flexible manufacturing, data acquisition and signal processing, vision systems, and power electronics. The Society continually updates its program of technical activities to meet the needs of modern industry. More...
New electronic voting system
As we are aware that there is a lot of spam messages around, we would like to bring to attention to our AdCom members this new approach to voting and survey in our Society. The electronic voting system was sucesfully tested in December 2011. Voting members of AdCom received an invitation to provide their input on consent survey. This approach will be adopted frequently from now on for various voting/survey needs. The voting will be done via third party automatic systems and will be easily accesible via any Internet enabled device such as laptop or a smart phone. We hope this will facilitate timely and convenient voting process in the future. The system ensures anonymous voting with several security features (no member can vote twice, only voting members will be invited, invitation link will be uniquely associated with individual invitation, etc.) In case of any questions, AdCom members are encouraged to contact Secretary or members of WIC.

AdCom Meetings
The last AdCom meeting was held in Melbourne, Australia, together with IECON 2011 on November 12.
Next AdCom and Officers Meetings are scheduled for: Officers meeting on Feb. 24, 2012, in Paris. AdCom1 2012: May 31-June2, 2012 in conjunction with ISIE 2012 in in Hangzhou, China. AdCom2 2012: Oct.28-30, 2012 in conjunction with IECON 2012 in in Montreal, Canada.
Significant Changes to Constitution and Bylaws
Significant changes to the IES constitution and our Bylaws are required by IEEE. Please watch carefully for changes to be posted on the Web site. Synopsis: quorum redefined, only two meetings per year, too many voting people miss meetings and that may get us into trouble with the new definition of quorum, harsh immediate consequences of missing two meetings in a row by a voting AdCom member and suspension of voting privileges for absent senior and life AdCom members.
