Casey the Chalkboard Retro Set
I’m excited about this here project. It’s one of my fav’s!
I love, love retro sets! The chrome…the vinyl…the oldness.
It’s just lovely!
Sadly, it’s rare to find a set in great condition AND suitable
for modern homes. I mean, that’s the nature of oldness!
Recently a friend picked this set up for me. $25…wow!
It was in decent shape. Some rust on the chrome, knicks and cracks in the vinyl,
and just a bit tired. But, I swear I heard it sigh deeply because it knew it was in
good hands.
I removed the seats of the chairs…
And used black spray paint made specifically for vinyl. This project took 3 cans.
I also cleaned and polished all of that chrome.
Most people pass up these great sets because of the rust they see.
Here’s my tip…Aluminum foil and vinegar. Bunch up some foil, dip it in vinegar
and scrub the chrome. Buff it right away.
I painted a coat of black enamel paint and then chalkboard paint on Casey…
Now this Chalkboard Retro Set is fresh and clean and ready to live in a modern home.
And of course a chalkboard top never hurts the appeal .
