New Articles on IVF and PGD added to the Web Site

Welcome to the Reproductive Medicine and Surgery Center of Virginia, a fertility clinic located in Charlottesville, Virginia.  Our fertility clinic offers comprehensive infertility treatments ranging from the initial diagnosis and treatment of infertility to advanced reproductive techniques such as IVF, donor egg, ICSI, and PGD. Our Virginia fertility clinic also offers the most advanced microscopic laser laparoscopy surgical procedures such as those used for tubal reversal surgery. It is not necessary for fertility patients to travel to distant fertility clinics in Washington, DC, northern Virginia, or Richmond.

The Reproductive Medicine and Surgery Center of Virginia offers the highest quality fertility clinic services in Virginia without the need to battle the traffic congestion of a big city or northern Virginia. This is extremely important for infertility and IVF patients in the Charlottesville region who must come to the clinic regularly during their stimulation cycles for estradiol measurements and ultrasound examinations.

Our Virginia fertility specialists, Bruce Bateman, MD, and Christopher Williams, MD are both sub specialty board certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility and are members of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (www.SREI.org). Dr. Smith is board eligible and is also a member of the ASRM and SREI. For a fertility specialist to attain board certification, he/she, must complete a residency in OB/GYN followed by a 3 year fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility.  A series of rigorous written and verbal examinations are required to achieve board certification. Both of our physicians actively teach other physicians from the University of Virginia Medical School. Medical residents from the University of Virginia Health System visit our Virginia fertility center to gain clinical experience while working with our fertility specialists.spacer

Our Virginia infertility clinic offers its services in an environment of personalized care, compassion, and understanding. We value the trust you place in us when you choose us to care for your reproductive health. That’s why the Reproductive Medicine and Surgery Center of Virginia offers the highest quality care that provides the best chance for pregnancy success. Our fertility specialists and staff are truly invested in each patient’s personal well being.

One of the missions of our Virginia fertility clinic is to provide highly personalized services in an environment where questions are encouraged.  This may be different then larger fertility clinics in Virginia, because of the number of fertility patients seen give us more time to devote to “patient teaching”.  We believe that patients must completely understand all phases of their fertility treatments and be active participants in their therapies.  It is truly a team effort.

Our Virginia fertility clinic reports its IVF success rates to the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies and the Centers for Disease Control. We have consistently high IVF success rates.

IVF patients, who have undergone IVF treatments administered by other fertility clinics, often comment on the many differences offered by our IVF clinic.  One major difference is the relaxed atmosphere found at our Charlottesville fertility clinic.  We strive to make sure infertile couples never feel rushed.  Also, rather than ultrasound technicians or nurses our fertility specialists usually personally see patients at every office appointment. Other large fertility clinics in Virginia treating hundreds of patients may not have the time to devote to truly individualized care.

Drs. Bateman, Williams and Smith are highly skilled reproductive surgeons with years of advanced training.  Many patients seeking services at our Virginia infertility clinic wish to have a previous tubal ligation (tied tubes) reversed. While tubal ligation should always be considered a permanent means of birth control, our fertility specialists can often “reconnect” or “untie” the tubes. The first step is to make an appointment. Be sure and visit our tubal reversal Web site for more information including tubal reversal surgery videos.

Our fertility clinic also has an active and successful donor egg program located in Charlottesville, VA.  Many women cannot use their own eggs because of reduced ovarian

reserve that results from advancing age or disease processes.  Using an egg donor provides these women with a new and excellent opportunity to carry their children through pregnancy and delivery.   Success rates for our donor egg program are consistently high.

Only physicians who have earned the highest level of certification in reproductive endocrinology and infertility are invited to be members in the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (SREI). Both Dr. Williams and Dr. Bateman are members of the SREI. For more information and to view their brochure, please visit their Web site.

Our fertility clinic serves cities throughout the area including Harrisonburg, Staunton, Fisherville, Lynchburg, Roanoke, Waynesboro, Stuarts Draft, Forest, Bedford, Buena Vista, Vinton, Bridgewater, and others. We also serve patients from all over the United States.

Each member of our fertility clinic staff looks forward to working with you as you strive to achieve your dreams of family.  Please don’t hesitate to call us if you have questions or want further information.
