Come to Our June Chant Workshop
JOIN US for a fun, educational, 2-day workshop on singing and learning about Sacred Music that will leave you inspired, spiritually uplifted, and ready for the renewal of the great Catholic musical tradition: June 1–2, 2007, at St. John the Evangelist Church in Stamford, Conn.
These sessions on Gregorian chant and polyphony provide a practical introduction, as well as on-going skill building for all who are active in the sacred music of the Catholic Church.
Sponsored by The St. Gregory Institute for Music and Liturgy at the Church of St. John the Evangelist and the Stamford Schola Gregoriana, and under the direction of Scott Turkington, the workshop will feature:
Singing sessions in 16th century polyphony by Palestrina, Victoria, Byrd, and others
• Singing and instructional sessions on the basics of reading chant, square note notation
• Singing sessions on the essential Latin chants every Catholic should know
• FREE lunch, on-site, all-day childcare
• Friday and Saturday evening receptions
• FREE Solesmes chant book, Liber Cantualis, to all Gregorian chant participants
• Sheet music provided as a part of registration
The workshop culminates in a 4:00 pm VigilMass, Saturday wherein participants will sing what they have learned.

The two-day workshop runs from Friday at 1:00 pm to Saturday at 5:00 pm . Saturday evening you will be treated to FREE champagne reception at the beautiful rectory as well as a concert by the Lumina String Quartet.
