I was at my great grans house the other day. she died about 8 years ago, but my uncle john still lives in the house. He lives downstairs, with his bed set up in the living room. I was there with my gran and uncle to move some furniture upstairs in what used to be my great grans room, as my uncle was going to be taking some of the furniture for his new flat.

Anyway we go upstairs and i open the door to my great grans room. fucking weird. It's been untouched since the day she died. Her glasses where still on the bed side cabinet as was a cup. Nothing had been touched and her slippers still lay on the floor by the bed. First thing i thought of was, i need a photo of this. then i started feeling all morbid. Within 5 minutews we'd disturbed 8 years of limbo.

When we moved the wardrobe i came a cross some old 45 records.... a 1958 Bobby Darin single. Mack the Knife/Was There A Call For Me. Martha and the Vandellas, Nowhere To Run/Motoring. 1960 The Viscounts Shortin' Bread/Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum. 1966 The Righteous Brothers Soul & Inspiration/B Side Blues and a 45 called Rhythmn & Blues Showcase Vol II. This one is from 1961 Side Am to B: The Walk - Jimmy McCracklin, You Gonna Wreck My Life - Howlin Wolf. Mesisn' With the Man - Muddy Waters, I Got To Find My baby - Little Walter.

For a woman who would have been in her 93rd year what a fantastic taste in music.
