The Covington Lady Buccs return 5 letter winners from last year’s squad; Julianna Simon, Hannah Pond, Shelby Kihm, Haley Reames and Caitlyn Crawford. This year’s team hopes to improve on last year’s overall record of 10-11, and 7-5 in conference play.
All-Conference performer, Senior, Julianna Simon returns to anchor the Buccs from her wing position. She averaged 15.0 points per game and was a District Nine Media All Star.
Fellow Senior Shelby Kihm will be the Lady Buccs main threat inside. She averaged 10.0 points and 8 rebounds per game last year.
A healthy Caitlyn Crawford, another senior post player, will improve the squad at both ends of the floor.
Senior, Halley Reames, gives the team quickness and a strong presence on the boards.
Senior, Hannah Pond, gives the team a solid and experienced defender on the perimeter.
Junior, Hiedi Snipes, will see plenty of action from the point guard position, while another Junior, Jessie Shilt, will support the team from the wing postion.
Freshman, Cassidy Cain, will also contribute from the perimeter.
Keys to the Buccs success will be reducing turnovers, improving our rebounding, and being more effective at the offensive end.
Miami East and Tri Village should battle it out for the Conference title. A host of teams including the Lady Buccs are capable of finishing near the top in the standings. Covington will play a formidable non-conference schedule once again which will challenge us to play at a higher level in order to be successful.
