2012 Show host area - Dumfries & Galloway
Show host area 2011-2012 is Dumfries and Galloway. The Society’s President and four Vice Presidents this year, are therefore all from the region.
Had the Royal Highland Show still been staged at locations across Scotland, as it had from 1822 until 1960, then it would have been held in Dumfries and Galloway. There were eight regions that took turn to stage the Show and the spirit of this is enshrined in the election of a Presidential Team from the Host Area performing a range of duties during their year in office.
The President of the Royal Highland Society this year and for Show 2012 is The Rt Hon Alex Fergusson MSP (former Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament) who, along with his team of four Vice Presidents comes from the Dumfries and Galloway region. The Vice Presidents are, Andrew Campbell, Margaret Kingan, Daivd Roberts and John Ross.
