86 – Game Club: ‘Max Payne’

No Comments The Electric Hydra

Wow! So, it’s been awhile. But, hey, here’s the first episode in our Max Payne Game Club Thing That We Agreed To Do A Billion Years Ago series. As you’ll notice, it’s just me and Joseph. There’s a few reasons for that, and we dive into those at the top of the new podcast. The short version is that all our personal lives are changing or our days are getting busier. We do the best we can to give you what we can, so hopefully this feels like enough. If not, sorry bros.

Anyway, if you’d like to listen hit that link below. Joseph and I are actually thinking about doing “Max Payne 3″ before “Max Payne 2,” so be on the look-out for future but out of order episodes in the future. Also, we’re going to do a regular show ASAP.

I haven’t had a ton of spare time in awhile, but what little I do have is usually spent with “Battlefield 3,” of late. I know it’s “old” or whatever, but if you want to join up with me TONIGHT at 8:30 EST, give our forum thread a visit and drop your gamertag. Should be radical. Probably. If the servers don’t suck. We’ll see!

Hey, A Podtoid Reunion Podcast Thing!

1 Comment Community

So, where have we been? Funny story: myself and most of the old Podtoid crew, including Samit, have been scrambling to record a reunion episode of the podcast since April, and somehow it’s finally happened. Starting now, you can download a brand new episode of our “old” show, which is the one that inspired this podcast. To listen, just hit up Podtoid on iTunes or wait until a streamable version of the cast appears later today.

Cool, right? I think we all had a blast and I hope you enjoy.

85 – Not ‘Max Payne’-Cast

This week’s episode of The Electric Hydra was a rushed, impromptu recording of the show. We do still intend to do our “Max Payne” casts, but I thought it’d be cool if we did a little something for all of you in the meanwhile since it’s been so long. Topics of discussion for this week’s episode include “Fez,” “Fat Sherlock Holmes,” and “Grand Theft Auto 3.” This is by far one of our “funnier” ‘casts despite its length, so enjoy!

Game Club: ‘Max Payne,’ Also Answer To The Donation Question

So me and the boys — read: Aaron, Anthony, and Joseph — discussed what we wanted to do next on The Electric Hydra Internet Radio Show. To my surprise, everyone seemed keen on doing another Game Club. The question then became, what game or series? The first thing that popped into my mind was “Max Payne,” Remedy and now Rockstar Games’ gritty shooter franchise. It’s rich in narrative, has some great moments, and has the potential to make a lot of awesome discussion. Even though we’ve received a tepid response so far on the message board about this, I’d like to announce that we are indeed going to Game Club all three “Max Payne” games starting with “Max Payne” in the near future.

We’ll do this across, potentially, three podcasts, two of which should hit later this month if our schedules line up. Our first podcast will cover the entirety of “Max Payne” and the second and third will cover “Max Payne 2″ and “Max Payne 3.” I expect a slight delay between our “Max Payne 2″ and “Max Payne 3″ podcasts, but we’ll obviously keep you on the up and up as we go.

84 – ‘Mass Effect’ Diaries Part 6

No Comments The Electric Hydra

On this week’s The Electric Hydra Internet Radio Show, special guests Anthony and Aaron help Joseph and I break down the end of “Mass Effect 3.” Topics include what we think of the ending’s contrivance, its surprise character, and other various nuts and bolts. We also dive into a light character discussion and do comment on some of the moaning on the Internet about how BioWare wrapped up its amazing sci-fi RPG series.

This is our last “Mass Effect” diary thing and we really appreciate all of you who joined us. This was one of the funnest things we’ve ever done for Internet radio, and I think it was totally worth all the time and effort. Here’s to another “Game Club” in the potential future. Enjoy!

Hi, guys. I don’t know what’s going on, but our message board is currently down. We’re looking into it. While you wait for them to come back up, may I suggest that you spend your free time with “Mass Effect 3?” If our schedules line up, we’ll be spoilering the hell out of it this week in our last installment of the Mass Effect Diaries.

Get pumped!

UPDATE: Fixed! Yay! Now, we’re going to upgrade to the latest version. Fingers crossed that nothing terrible happens!

83 – On Winged Warriors And ‘Mass Effect 3′

On this week’s episode of the Electric Hydra Internet Radio Show, Aaron gives us a great idea about what to expect from the new “Kid Icarus” game on the 3DS. Later, we dive into a spoiler-y discussion on some characters in “Mass Effect 3.” At the top of the podcast, I’ve put in a pre-show edit to give you a heads up on what to avoid if you’re sensitive to any “ME3″ talk.

I actually can’t remember if we talked about anything else, and that sounds like a bad thing… but, hey, we’re kind of known for our free-flowing “whatever” discussion about zany stuff. Hop in, buckle up, and enjoy!

On this week’s episode, we have a proper The Electric Internet Radio Show, uh, show. At the top, we have a discussion about my weight and muscles, as well as GDC 2012. Later on the show, we talk about the new iPad, some new games that look fantastic on Apple’s latest tablet, and we touch on the PS Vita and Anthony’s problems with “Chrono Trigger.”

It’s been awhile, so we hope you guys enjoy. Next week we’ll be finishing up our “Mass Effect 3″ series, so beat the game already!
