    Dave Jackson is another huge influence on the spectrum of jazz. Dave has now established himself as one of the innovators of the New York Jazz and Latin music scenes. He has an extremely innovative walking approach, and his soloing is just amazing. The way Dave digs into the bass and gets that amazing, huge tone captures his listeners everytime.

    A native of Jamaica, Queens, Dave Jackson is a veteran of the bands of Sonny Rollins, Sonny Fortune, Illinois Jacquet, The Count Basie Orchestra, Jaki Byard, Gloria Lynne, Al Hibbler, Helen Humes, Duke Jordan, Dorothy Donegan, Ahmad Jamal, Ruth Brown, to name a few. Dave has performed and/or recorded with Kenny Burrell, Weldon Irvine, Roy Haynes, Jimmy McGriff, T.S. Monk and Dakota Staton. At the present time Dave co-leads a band with his brother , alto saxophonist - Ed Jackson; The Jackson Brothers Quartet. Also, Dave works with his wife's band. His wife is acclaimed piano and French Horn player, Ahnee Sharon Freeman.

    Theatre Performances

    Dave Jackson has extensive theatre work which includes two Weldon Irvine plays " Young gifted and Broke" and "The Vampire and the Dentist". Also,two plays based on the life of Dinah Washington entitled "Sasha sings Dinah" and "Dinah Was". Peformed with Lonette McKee, S. Epatha Merkerson and Gail Nelson in their potrayals of Billie Holiday in " Lady Day at Emersons Bar and Grill" undser the musical direction of Danny Holgate. In another Billie Holiday play "Yesterdays: An Evening with Billie Holiday", performrd with Vanessa Rubin rendition under the production of Woodie King. Other musicals working as a sub include "Ain't Misbehavin", based on the music of Fats Waller and the Langston Hughes play "Little Ham".
