The Green Party of
Virginia is the electoral arm of the Green movement in
Virginia. Recognized by the Virginia State Board of elections, the
GPVA, made up of affiliated
locals and at large members, is the only Green
Party in Virginia accredited by the Green Party of
the United States (GP-US). Hundreds of Greens belonging to
the 46 State Parties accredited by the GP-US have been elected to
public office, including several in Virginia.
Green locals are
politically active in Virginia, where we have run campaigns throughout
the state and continue to lobby for legislation which protects our
environment, health, and the rights of people throughout our
Commonwealth. Our members are active in many organizations which
promote those causes. We welcome opportunities to advance our common
goals, as outlined in our Ten
Key Values, through organizing and through
electoral campaigns.
We invite you to join the
Green Party of Virginia in building a new political party and a
movement dedicated to promoting: ecology, democracy, justice, community
and peace.

Arlington
Special Election Results 2012-03
Arlington Green candidate Audrey Clement received
7 percent of the votes cast in a midterm election for a vacanty county
board seat, denying the ruling majority Democratis a majority of the
votes cast, for the first time in well over a decade for any election
in Arlington County.
Historic
Homes of Freedmans Row, Affordable Housing Endangered
The Arlington county board plans to demolish
entire neighborhoods in the historic Freedmans Row area, and replace
them with upscale apartments, eliminating substantial amounts of
Section 8 housing in a county that has already been unable to meet its
obligations to provide affordable housing in recent years. The Green
Party has put forth a candidate for the county board who would oppose
this unneeded and unwanted gentrification at the cost of housing for
low-income families and the loss of historic neighborhoods.
Next Meeting
The next meeting of the GPVA will be at the

Green Party leaders sharply
criticized Democratic Party supporters online and in the media who have
tried to turn the ongoing Occupy Wall Street, Occupy America, and

Democrat and reelect President Obama in 2012. See www.gp.org/press/pr-national.php?ID=453
