“I am off down the river, Watson,” said he. “I have been turning it over in my mind, and I can see only one way out of it. It is worth trying, at all events.”  Sign 130

The Annual Outing Sailing.

Loose Canon 6: Another whiff.

Sunday 10 June 2012.

A guided walk in Belfast’s vibrant Titanic Quarter which explores the specific Holmesian and Doylean connections to the area plus anything else which might take the Guide’s fancy. The walk, which last 1 hour 30 minutes, will not be excessively hard on shoe leather.

Subject matter covered will include Conan Doyle’s connection to the Titanic band, Sir Henry Irving’s Royal command performance, the Cunard shipping line and the inventor of the ulster great coat, the convict ship which berthed at Queen’s Quay for a month in 1908 and the ship which sank in Belfast Lough, yes, the same one which brought Conan Doyle here in 1925.

Passengers (guests) will be carried on this particular trip but numbers are strictly limited so early booking is advisable (Thursday 7 June at very latest). The Captain of the day aka Guide is Oscar Ross.

Members requiring further details should consult the latest issue (no.119) of Mayday Mayday, published on 1 June.
