The Embankment is an imposing mock-Tudor pub with rooms in the heart of Bedford. The clue to our location is in the name! We sit right in the middle of Bedford's beautifully-landscaped Embankment, with wonderful views out over the River Great Ouse, the boathouses and all the hustle and bustle of life on the river. The Embankment Hotel was built in 1891 and has just been fully renovated in a style that reflects its late-Victorian heyday, but with all the modern comforts & facilities of a great pub. The atmosphere is relaxed & hospitable. There is no stuffy hotel lobby or residents' lounge, just a team of friendly faces to look after you.
We have 20 en-suite bedrooms with free Wi-Fi as well as a spacious bar & eatery overlooking the river, a lovely shaded terrace and a private dining room for up to 24.
The Embankment has teamed up with Kerry Cash and her team of beauty therapists and is proud to announce that from the September 1st we will be offering beauty therapy at The Embankment. So if you are a lady who lunches and fancy a manicure or a facial you can have it all under one roof. Please call 5th Avenue 01234341377 or email info @5thavenuespa.co.uk to make your bookings.
Kelly McKenzie, who has worked with me at The Embankment's sister pubs, The Swan at Salford and The Black Horse in Woburn, steps up as General Manager. Neil Simons, who's cooked in more than one great local pub including our very own at Salford, is in the kitchen cooking a seasonal menu of fresh food, using top quality ingredients served at pub prices. We are open for breakfast, for coffee & cakes through the morning, serve lunch from noon, & have hot fresh food available all day & through the evening.
As a former British Institute of Innkeeping's Licensee of the Year, I am really looking forward to making The Embankment everyone's first choice for drinking, dining & staying over in Bedford. I am also proud to be working with Charles Wells, and to be able to host their guests to the town in such lovely surroundings. We really look forward to meeting you soon! Andrew, Kelly & Neil |
