All of your business marketing efforts – whether person to person, in print, or online – are oriented around one essential message: a strong, crystal-clear statement that describes:

  1. Who you are,
  2. Who you help,
  3. What you do, and
  4. What people get out of working with you.

I call this your credo. When you communicate this message with clarity and conviction, you instantly become irresistibly attractive to the very people you were meant to work with – your ideal clients. They instantly resonate with you and think, “YES! This is exactly what I’ve been needing!”

Are You Reluctant to Ask for Referrals?

By Teresia LaRocque on May 22, 2012 | Erickson Business Center for Coaches

Do you feel a little shy or sheepish about asking for coaching referrals? If you do, I strongly encourage you to grab your hesitation by the horns and handle it – right now – because that little twinge of reluctance can have a hugely detrimental impact on your success. If you let this feeling hang around, it can handicap your business-building efforts in a massive way.

The best way to handle this problem is to explore your beliefs about asking for referrals.

  • Do you feel like you’re putting someone on the spot when you ask for a referral?
  • Do you think it positions you as a rookie if you admit you’re still building your clientele?
  • Do you have some negative history? Perhaps you were on the receiving end of a pushy sales effort and you thought to yourself, I would never do that to someone.

Why Hire a Relationship Coach?

By Richard Hyams CSFC on May 15, 2012 | Life & Personal Coaching

Richard Hyams CSFC, Relationship Horticulturist and Coach, and Senior Trainer with Erickson College

If you know anything about coaching you might know that a coach generally assist clients to articulate and define their most important goals and further assists them to design action plans in order to achieve those very goals. It would seem to follow then that a relationship coach (a coach whose speciality is relationships) would assist their clients to define their relationship goals and elicit their values and design actions plan to achieve a higher quality of relationships whether romantic, familial and/or professional.

But relationship coaching can, and should be in my opinion, much more than that. A coach can certainly help you come up with an action plan of how to behave differently with another person or assist you in outlining a list of attributes for your ideal lover and again, a plan to find him or her. I call this the “outer game” of relating. Focusing on actions and behaviors we take to gain a result. But as I state above, coaching, especially relationship coaching, can go much deeper than that. A good relationship coach will assist you with the “inner game” of relating. I have determined that the one thing that stops us from having good and glorious relationships with anyone and everyone are the unexamined, unquestioned beliefs we hold onto concerning what it means to relate to one another. In other words, the “inner game” means being willing to examine and change any of the thought patterns and beliefs about yourself and others that prevent you from having the relationship experiences you want. A coach can act as a valuable asset in this process.

The Journey of an Entrepreneur is a Journey of Self Discovery

And it all starts with discovering this: What is YOUR definition of success?

I’ve worked with hundreds, if not thousands of entrepreneurs, and I can assure you that every one of them had a different idea of success. For some it was a six-figure income; for others, it was generating full-time income on part-time hours. Some wanted to inspire people; others wanted to educate. One wanted to coach 40 new parents each month, while another set her sights on intensive retreats for 10 retirees each quarter.

As you dig deeper into your idea of success, you’ll discover that there are layers of insight about what success really is. Underneath the picture of a successful business, there’s the feeling of true success. It might be freedom from overwhelm and struggle, an inspiring level of work-life-family balance, or a pace that keeps you energized. Maybe it’s surrounding yourself with a-mazing people – and nothing but! For many people, it’s the sense that you’re finally doing what you were born to do.
