Our Team

Chip Morningstar*

Co-invented one of the first virtual worlds (Habitat), coined the term “avatar,” and has been ahead of the curve for nearly three decades. He co-created JSON with Randy Farmer and Doug Crockford.

Randy Farmer*

Randy Farmer co-invented Habitat, was chief world-builder at Electric Communities, and been architecting social networks since the dawn of the digital age. He recently wrote Building Web Reputation Systems.

Noah Falstein*

Noah Falstein is a game designer/producer with dozens of credits from Sinistar (1983) to Alan Wake (2010) and LucasArts’ Indiana Jones titles. He chaired IGDA and written Game Dev’s design column.

Gary Winnick*

Gary Winnick is a veteran art director/game producer whose many credits range from Rescue on Fractalus! and Maniac Mansion to Spectrum Holobyte’s “Star Trek: The Next Generation” projects. In his youth, he assisted comic book legend Neal Adams.

Claire Griffin

Claire Griffin is a seasoned game and educational developer, whose early work included Chessmaster Mac. She’s an alumna of Electric Communities, Knowledge Adventure Worlds, and Time Warner Interactive.

Andrew Walker

Andrew Walker is a business development expert with years of experience at companies including Microsoft and THQ, and extensive game-industry contacts.

Steven Smith

Steven Smith is an iOS programmer, who has come to Suddenly Social from S2 Games where he worked on their acclaimed Heroes of Newerth title.

Board Members and Advisors

Randy Breen (Advisor)

Randy Breen is a game industry veteran with over 20 years of leadership experience. He began his career at EA prior to their IPO when the company was less than 100 people. He spent fourteen years in production roles, culminating in a five year term as executive producer and creative director. During his tenure, he created the multimillion-unit-selling game franchise “Road Rash” and managed over two dozen PC and console titles on all major platforms and categories including Simulation, Sports, Action, Shooter, and RPG.

After leaving EA, Randy took the position of Vice President of Product Development for LucasArts Entertainment, a subsidiary of LucasFilm. Lucasarts produced some of it’s most successful titles including movie titles supporting Star Wars episode 2 and 3, Knights of the Old Republic (which won game of the year), original titles such as Gladius and Mercenaries, and the best selling title Star Wars Battlefront.

Randy returned to early stage business after joining Emotiv Systems as the Chief Product Officer. In this role he was responsible for the company’s research and development as well as its business development activities. The company produced the industries first human computer interface utilizing a wireless multipoint EEG headset and SDK software for signal classification.

Randy later became SGN’s COO and took the position of CEO shortly after. As CEO he oversaw all aspects of the company business activity including game production, business development, strategy, marketing and executive management. The company produced hit products for Facebook, iPhone and Android such as Fluff Friends, F.A.S.T, Skies of Glory and MiniTycoon Casino. SGN which was acquired by Mindjolt, Inc. in 2011.

Blake Commagere (Advisor)

Blake pioneered the social gaming category on social networks by creating some of the biggest apps ever on Facebook including Zombies and Vampires and many other games.

Blake was also a key member of the team that created “Causes” which has raised over $10 million on Facebook.

Most recently Blake was CTO at Ohai – a company creating a Flash MMOG. Previously, he was a Co-Founder at Mogad, Lead Engineer at Causes (Facebook Causes), Founder of a company that focused on fundraising for non-profits on MySpace, a Senior Engineer at Plaxo and the Founding Engineer of BuildForge.

Matt Ocko (Board)

Matt Ocko, Managing Director of Archimedes Capital, has twenty five years of experience as a technology entrepreneur, operating executive, and venture capitalist, both in the US and in China. Matt holds a BA in Physics from Yale University.

Matt has been a General Partner of VantagePoint Venture Partners and Softbank Technology Ventures (of which he was a founder), as well as a Partner at Helix Investments. He has been directly involved in raising over $2 billion in venture capital investments from limited partners, and building major practices at these firms.

Rizwan Virk (Board)

Rizwan Virk (aka “Riz”) possesses extensive experience as an entrepreneur, technologist, author, angel investor, and indie film producer. His areas of experience include social and mobile games, online publishing and advertising, venture capital, with a particular focus on innovative, early stage organizations.

Riz is currently CEO of Gameview Studios, which he cofounded. Gameview’s mobile games have been used by over 30 million iphone and android smartphone users. Gameview was acquired by the leading Japanese mobile/social game company DeNA. In addition, Riz has been an angel investor in many gaming and social/mobile companies, including Offerpal Media, Tapjoy, Apsalar, Pocket Gems, Telltale games, Funzio, Assured Labor, and others.

Prior to Gameview, Riz was a cofounder of a number of technology companies, including CambridgeDocs (sold to EMC), Service Metrics (sold to Exodus) and Brainstorm Technologies.

Riz frequently writes and lectures on mobile, social, gaming technologies, and entrepreneurship. Riz has also been a executive producer in a number of independent family and fantasy/sci-fi films. He has been featured in in periodicals ranging from the Boston Globe , Inc. Magazine, and the Wall Street Journal. Riz is also the author of Zen Entrepreneurship.
