AFGHANISTAN

Afghanistan is a country in crisis; politically, socially and economically. Decades of war, and on-going insurgency, hamper humanitarian, peace-keeping and reconstruction efforts. It is remote, and in many parts, austere in extreme. More so than other parts of the world, those providing contingency support services need to know the environment, the people and the challenges.

Sallyport is a registered Afghani company, and its Catering & Hospitality Division provides Food Services to both the EU Policing contingent and Hart Security. Building on well developed networks and relationships, Sallyport is set to extend its presence across the country in support of US Government, humanitarian and commercial clients.

Sallyport currently has a fully protected compound in Kabul, and all of its specialist service divisions have a presence on the ground. As in other areas of the world, they have the ability to mobilize to full capacity within 30 days.

Sallyport and Power Generation Solutions have recently won a contract to supply a 21 MW Diesel Generating Power Plant and associated equipment to the USAID Kandahar Helmand Power Program. The program is currently assisting with the expansion and refurbishment of a medium and low voltage power distribution system for Kandahar City.

NORTH AMERICA

Sallyport has substantial capability in the United States and can mobilize in support of any size operation across all of its specialist service divisions. It has provided substantial Fire & Emergency Management Services to Whiteman and Holloman US Air Bases, and continues to work with the Federal Emergency Management Agency on post-Hurricane Katrina reconstruction efforts.

DJIBOUTI

The economy of Djibouti is based on service activities connected with the country’s strategic location and status as a free trade zone in Northeast Africa. Both America and France have a military presence, on land and sea. The Djiboutian Government has been very supportive of U.S. and Western interests, and in return, America in particular has been a principal provider of humanitarian assistance for health care, education, governance, and security assistance programs.

Sallyport provides personnel working under the Global Contingency Construction contract to build facilities for various clients in the region.

IRAQ

Iraq continues to develop both economically and politically with the oil and gas sector being particularly promising. The insurgency continues, and though violence is substantially lower than in the past, all actors have the capacity to mount devastating attacks.

Sallyport has substantial presence in Iraq, and has been on the ground since 2003. Its clients are engaged in humanitarian, public affairs and peacekeeping operations and undertake large programs. Sallyport is the sole provider of Fire and Emergency management services to the US military, under the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (LOGCAP III),and is the biggest Fire and Emergency provider in Iraq. Its 4-block compound in Al Mansur, Baghdad, is the largest USAID facility in Iraq, supporting seven different USAID and World Bank projects.

Sallyport has recently received a four-year subcontract on the recently awarded USAID Tarabot project, and will provide Turn-Key support solutions to support the program’s mission to provide training to the Iraqi Civil Service and improve the capabilities of the Iraqi government.

Sallyport has all nine of its specialist service divisions in operation in Iraq, and has the capacity to upscale to any degree.

KYRGYZSTAN

Kyrgyzstan has suffered from ethnic violence and political instability since its cession from the Soviet Union. It has stabilized somewhat after a near-coup, and mass displacement in 2010.

Sallyport’s Fire & Emergency Services Division as well as its O&M team conduct a variety of Civil Engineering Operations at the US Air Force base in Bishkek (Manas AB). It also provides the services necessary to secure distribution of cargo on the Northern Distribution Network from Kyrgyzstan through Tajikistan to Afghanistan.

PAKISTAN

Pakistan struggles to combat the presence of Islamist groups within the country, and on its borders with Afghanistan. It has substantial tensions with India, and an uneasy relationship with America. It is politically fractious, and has experienced a sustained campaign of political and religiously inspired terrorism over the past two years.

Sallyport is currently providing the Pakistan armed forces with a variety of services, including specialist military training.

QATAR

Qatar has the third highest gas reserves in the world, and substantial oil. It ranks among the highest GDP in the world.

Sallyport provides comprehensive Vehicle Maintenance Management and Civil Engineering services on the US Air Base (Al Udeid).

REPUBLIC OF SOUTH SUDAN

After decades of civil war, South Sudan is set to become an independent country on 9th July 2011. It is expected to be named; The Republic of South Sudan. The country is vast and challenging, there are few roads, and large areas of bush, desert and swamp. Violence continues; politically inspired inter-tribal and banditry. Despite deposits of oil and other minerals, poverty and bad health are still pervasive. However, as stability improves, and investment accelerates, this is expected to change.

Sallyport has worked in South Sudan since 2008 and has provided contingency operations support services to USAID and others. In partnership with Arkel, it has constructed substantial assets such as an FM radio station in Juba, and a 2500 square meter Divisional Headquarters for the Sudan People’s Liberation Army.

Sallyport and Arkel won a contract last Fall to enhance the Sudanese People’s Liberation Army’s medical capabilities. The project provides an extensive medical program designed to provide immediate, urgent and critical care capabilities to an estimated 100,000 soldiers, their dependents and civilian staff.

Sallyport looks forward to continuing this vital work with USAID, and to expanding its services to new clients in the oil and gas sector.

OTHER REGIONS

Sallyport has previously undertaken contracts in Tajikistan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Kenya, and retains substantial networks and capability in those countries.
