Culture & Values

Sallyport was set up in the fall of 2003 to provide contingency operations support services to organizations engaged in post-war reconstruction in Iraq. Today, its clients work in austere and high-threat environments across the world. Enabling them to fulfill their mission requires a special kind of corporation, a strong set of values, and extra-ordinary personnel.

Sallyport’s executive staff have military and commercial experience, which uniquely tailors them to succeed in complex environments. They have worked extensively in the field, thrive on the challenges encountered there, and have strong affinity for the cultures they work amongst.

Guided by a strong sense of esprit de corps and an eagerness to excel, they have combined the practical down-to-earth principles of frontier environments, with business methodologies that work – anywhere. The result is a corporation that has the ability to over-deliver its clients’ needs, and ‘make a difference’ in the environments they operate.

Sallyport now has more than 1,900 employees drawn from diverse countries and cultures. All of them share similar characteristics; they are hard working, practical and adaptable, cautious, considered, brave and proactive. All of them are committed to providing the best possible service, in the most timely, cost-effective way.

Sallyport believes that how it works, should be given as much consideration as what it does – the end product. Good work practices, safety, environmental, client communication, and a host of other process and procedural elements are an essential part of this. Other less tangible fundamentals are equally important. Sallyport prides itself on creating an ethos that is as supportive of its employees and the wider community, as it is of its clients. A happy and motivated work-force, that maintains good community relations, increases both harmony and production; a positive thing for people, missions, and business.

There are five core values that are important to Sallyport; an amalgam of the ethos that naturally pervades all levels of the corporation. They are enshrined in its standard operating procedures, which also dictate and enforce more specific standards of procedure and behavior.

Fidelity demonstrates Sallyport’s loyalty, constancy, dependability and trustworthiness. It also demonstrates its precision and exactness in the way it executes its assignments.

Resourcefulness demonstrates Sallyport’s enterprising nature, its inventive, adaptive, creative, experienced and capable way of working.

Team Spirit demonstrates Sallyport’s efficient and productive way of working, the atmosphere of its workplace, and a collective desire to succeed.

Respect and fairness demonstrate how Sallyport approaches its clients, employees, wider publics and their environments. It indicates that Sallyport does a good job for fair reward, and that it treats people, their beliefs and orientations, with respect.

Sallyport’s core values are reflected in its logo. The three lines represent fidelity, resourcefulness, and team spirit. The colors echo the values enshrined in the American flag, but are also symbolic, in both Western and international cultures, of other Sallyport characteristics; Blue, for protection, depth, calm and respect; Red, for discipline, control, and vitality; White, for transparency, exactness and cleanliness.
